THE UNIQUE GUITAR BLOG: Electric Travel Guitars
http://uniqueguitar.blogspot.com/2010/10/electric-travel-guitars.html
Tuesday, October 5, 2010. Today we will look at electric travel guitars. There are a lot of acoustic and acoustic/electric travel instruments, but for now we will mainly look at electric travel guitars. The first electric travel guitar I ever played was the Chiquita. Luthier Mark Erlewine and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top fame designed this guitar in the late 1970’s. Despite its small size, it was a joy to play. Hondo stopped distribution of the Chiquita in 1985. I have often seen Johnny Winter photographed wi...

THE UNIQUE GUITAR BLOG: The Gibson SG - A Most Unique Guitar
http://uniqueguitar.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-gibson-sg-most-unique-guitar.html
Tuesday, December 31, 2013. The Gibson SG - A Most Unique Guitar. When I was 13 years old, I would arrive for my guitar lesson about an hour early at Dodds Music. That way I could check out all the new guitars. I can recall when the store had this beautiful guitar that I had ever seen. It was a Gibson SG Custom. In my opinion, the SG shape has to be one of the most original guitar designs. It was shaped like no other guitar at the tim. E Gibson gave it the designation SG which stood for solid guitar.

Friday, September 26, 2014. The Guitars of Stevie Ray Vaughan. Vaughan received numerous accolades as a player and was featured in many magazine articles, especially those having to do with the guitar. His young life ended in a twist of fate that harkens back to Buddy Hollies story,. The pilot guided the helicopter over a golf course at low altitude. He somehow crashed into a 300 foot high ski slope. Stevie Ray Vaughan grew up in Dallas Texas. After hiring drummer Chris Layton and bass player Tommy Shann...

THE UNIQUE GUITAR BLOG: October 2014

Sunday, October 26, 2014. The Gibson Musical Instrument Corporation owes a debt of thanks to several great guitarists; Peter Green, Eric Clapton and Michael Bloomfield come to mind. It is my opinion that these these fellows brought back popularity to the Les Paul guitar, in an era where most guitarists were playing a Fender Stratocaster, Telecaster, or a Gibson ES-335. Among his early supporters were B. B. King, Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan and Buddy Guy. Bloomfield used to say, 'It's a natural...Michael B...
