Mark to Boston 2015 Blog. Mark Davidhizar's journey to the 2015 Boston Marathon. Preview: Earn Your Mittens. To make this weekend experience if more insane, after a less than desirable performance at the Carmel Marathon, I will be running the Wisconsin Marathon aiming to run under 3 hours. The Carmel Marathon was 3 weeks ago, not much time for recovery. This will probably make the Kalamazoo Marathon a little unpleasant. I won’t be alone on this adventure. My wife Tina (you can read her post on ...When I ...

Mark to Boston 2015 Blog. Mark Davidhizar's journey to the 2015 Boston Marathon. The major benefactor of this race is Memorial Children’s Hodpital in South Bend. Luckily, the heat stayed maniagable all morning, with temps reaching of 60s. I would have preferred 50s, but with temps getting up into the 70s and 80s in the past, I won’t complain about this years weather. Start of the full marathon at 6:00). Race started on time at 7:30. The goal for the first mile was to go 6:35-6:40 for the first mile a...

Mark to Boston 2015 Blog. Mark Davidhizar's journey to the 2015 Boston Marathon. Make Running Fun For Kids. FOCUS ON PARTICIPATION AND IMPROVEMENT. Last year at the Blueberry Stomp in Plymouth, Indiana, I pushed Emma to run a kids mile even though she was saying she didn’t feel well. She finished the mile but whined and cried the whole way. As we found out later, turns out she had a double ear infection. Oops. Listen to your kids. REMEMBER, ALL KIDS ARE DIFFERENT. LAY OFF THE HARD TRAINING. Start with a ...

New address, same running blog. Wednesday, December 31, 2014. 2014: A Year In Review. This past year has been an incredibly rewarding one for me, both running-wise and non-running wise. One thing it obviously has not been, however, is a great year for blogging. If you count this post, if posted only six times during the calendar year! That's a big decrease from my 30 posts in 2013 and a massive plummet from 2012's 126. So, given that I haven't posted much, how did the year go? Of course, my biggest runni...

New address, same running blog. Friday, February 14, 2014. Friday Haikus: Neverending Winter Edition. First things first, I know I haven't posted in four months. Well, rather than dwell on that, I'm going to jump back in with a round of Friday haikus inspired by the terrible winter we've been having in the northeast. Enjoy! Just a dusting, winds are light. Is this summer time? Sidewalks frozen, streets are slush. This is getting old. Ran inside each day this week. God, I want some sun. June 7, 2015.

New address, same running blog. Friday, November 8, 2013. The 2013 New York City Marathon in Brief. Last weekend was the New York City Marathon as most of my readers are likely aware. This whole week Ive been hoping to put together a race report but things have been far too busy at work and at home to allow me the time to do so. Normally, in such a circumstance, I would just say,. Oh well, Ill get to it when I get to it and the blog can go unupdated a bit longer. Did you re-qualify for Boston? I'm so hap...

New address, same running blog. Friday, January 23, 2015. An Annual Tradition: the Aramco Houston Half. Labels: Aramco Houston Half Marathon. Friday, January 16, 2015. After a December in which I hardly worked at all (thank you wedding, honeymoon, and Christmas! The first two full weeks of January have seemed pretty long. The long weekend for MLK Day always seems to come when I need it the most. Of course, what better way to start off a long weekend than with some terrible poetry? Sub-par content, sad.

New address, same running blog. Friday, May 8, 2015. Random Friday Post: Proposing at the Finish. By now some of you may have seen the story about the couple who tried to get engaged at the finish line of the Pittsburgh Half Marathon last weekend. If not, definitely check it out here. Peterson made two rookie mistakes which cost him his perfect proposal. Hopefully he reads this post so that he can get it right the next time around. 1) Propose before crossing, not after. Obviously, this won't work if you'...
Sutton Place Runner: My 2015 Boston Marathon Race Report

New address, same running blog. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. My 2015 Boston Marathon Race Report. In 2014 I had a great experience in Boston—I ran a course PR and managed a 10 second negative split. Going into 2015, I had every reason to expect an even better race. In spite of a terrible winter in New York, I had a really good training cycle, running my fastest half. In over two years and tying my 10k PR. All smiles before the race. Possibly the greatest song of our generation. Shouted "you could have been...

New address, same running blog. Tuesday, October 29, 2013. You're Halfway There: Queens and the NYCM. Just before the halfway point, runners begin crossing the Pulaski Bridge which links Greenpoint in Brooklyn to Long Island City, Queens. Named after Kazimierz Pułaski. This portion is largely flat and as runners make their way south towards the looming Queensboro Bridge, the bars, restaurants, and bodegas that line the street give way to industrial buildings. At Mile 14. One Court Square, better known as...

New address, same running blog. Wednesday, April 8, 2015. Race Repot: 2015 Scotland Run 10k. I had all of my stuff ready to go, so I found myself with some time to kill (read: time to worry about my cold). I decided I would try racing and see what happened. After my success in the NYC Half a few weeks ago, I also decided to have a Red Ace. Organic Beet Juice Shot a couple hours before the race, lest there be any unforeseen GI issues. The horn sounded and I followed a sea of humanity across the start line.
Sutton Place Runner: Welcome to Taper Town
http://soharunner.blogspot.com/2015/03/welcome-to-taper-town.html
New address, same running blog. Monday, March 30, 2015. Welcome to Taper Town. In spite of several curve balls, my final long run went really well yesterday and I'm now officially in taper mode! The first thing that went wrong with this plan was the forecast. Early in the week it became clear that it would be cold and snowy in Boston on Saturday. No big deal, we would do our respective runs in New York first thing in the morning and then drive up. Obstacle #1, easily overcome. March 31, 2015 at 8:24 PM.

This WordPress.com site is the bee's knees. I’m back, again! June 9, 2015. Well its been a long time yet again, sometimes I actually forget I have a site! I signed up for my first marathon outside Ireland, Edinburgh! Its billed as fast and flat – two lovely words for a marathon! Now for anyone who has been to the simply stunning city that is Edinburgh when you read their marathon is fast and flat you tend to wonder how that is possible as the city is basically just one big hill!
