Reflections: January 2015
http://reflections-grammy.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 1, 2015. Mama always had her machine serviced at Grome's Sewing Machine Co. in San Antonio. The old Pfaff stop working in the middle of this quilt. I had to finish it on Natalie's machine. Sadly, when I took the old girl to the shop I was told that her parts were no longer being made. They put her back together and I brought her home and set her on a shelf in my secret room where I can look at her and remember. Angelica M. Stacy. A few weeks ago I decided to retire. Reflections: August 2013
http://reflections-grammy.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 28, 2013. Feeling sentimental and wanting to do something about it. So this would be a lovely example of my handiwork circa December 1991. Of course family stories are also worth preserving. I know you know what I'm talking about; those stories, usually told around the supper table, that make us laugh til our sides hurt. You get the picture. A little of this and a little of that - that is special to our family. Things that we want to remember. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Reflections: New Year's Resolution
http://reflections-grammy.blogspot.com/2015/01/new-years-resolution.html
Thursday, January 1, 2015. The thought of a new year reminds me of one my favorite quotes from Ann of Green Gables,. 8220;Tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it.well with no mistakes in it yet.". Angelica M. Stacy. I love the idea of the new year being fresh with no mistakes in it . yet. And, I love the idea of making it my own. This year, especially, the new year brings a freshness that I have not know in long time. I have retired from my job at LPS. A few weeks ago I decided to retire. I am go...

Reflections: June 2009
http://reflections-grammy.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Monday, June 15, 2009. In Church on Sunday we were asked to fill out a survey about ourselves. For the first time ever I checked "empty nest" for my season in life. Those words have been cropping up a lot lately. I can't seem to get them off my mind. Matthew 29 What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin. That got me to thinking about my own fledgling who is trying her wings. For a brief moment I wondered if she was leaving the nest too soon, but I think it is. Learning to b...

Reflections: Making Pizza
http://reflections-grammy.blogspot.com/2013/09/making-pizza.html
Sunday, September 15, 2013. When you girls were little I used to make homemade pizza on Friday nights. In those days we lived in the burbs on the northwest side of San Antonio. You can see the little dimples. Here is the recipe I used that day. I got it from my Mama Ann. Lately I have been using a "new" slightly different recipe I found in Pam Anderson's Cook Without a Book book). 1/4 cup oil (I used olive oil). 1 1/4 cups warm water. There you have it. Homemade pizza. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Reflections: How NOT to Make Cherry Pie
http://reflections-grammy.blogspot.com/2013/09/how-not-to-make-cherry-pie.html
Monday, September 2, 2013. How NOT to Make Cherry Pie. But, you know what? I dusted off my pride and asked my mother-in-law how she made cherry pie. Turns out she didn't use canned cherry pie filling. Ouch! From that day on neither did I! So here is my recipe for cherry pie:. Pastry for a 2 crust pie. 1 cup of sugar. 2 cans of pitted tart cherries, packed in water and drained. 1/4 tsp almond extract. Preheat oven to 425. Mix sugar, flour, cherries and almond extract. What I didn't know in my early years ...

Reflections: December 2009
http://reflections-grammy.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 27, 2009. Reflections on the Blizzard of '09. It has been one cold and snowy December. In fact, Lincoln has shattered all the previous records for snow in December. Thankfully this last storm came during our break so we didn't have to miss school. We only have have 2 more built in snow days before we have ro make them up. Making up snow days is not fun! The view looking north from in front of our house. The view to the south. Our dog, Daisy, loves the snow! Natalie, Audrey and Madeleine.
