Mark V 36 Commuter. LOA 28' 0 ". Disp 4,000 lb. Since I have had many requests for a smaller, trailerable version of the Mark V 39, I designed the Mark V 28. I decided on a V bottomed boat because I didn't like the pounding of the flat bottomed boat. The hull is basically an enlarged version of the Mark V 20, which is very pleasant going into a chop. Mark V 36 Commuter. How I got to this point. These are all the boats that I have cruised on. Pilgrim was a 41' Piver Trimaran that My Dad built in 1969, and our family cruised on for a year, from Chicago, down the Mississippi to the Gulf, and on to The Bahamas. Pilgrim III was a 34' Colvin Sharpie that My Dad built in 1983. I cruised with him from LaCrosse, Wisconsin to Kentucky Lake. I decided that I really liked the lifestyle, but I needed a bigger boat. Pilgrim III in the Upper Mississippi.

Mark V 36 Commuter. 39 foot outboard powered Sharpie houseboat. DRAFT 12" (with motor raised). DISP 9,500 lb loaded. The most practical shape for this type of boat would be wall-sided (like Bolger's Sneakeasy design), but I decided that I would sacrafice some ease of construction for style. The bottom is 8' wide from about midships to the stern. The sides flare out from the bow toward midships, and then tumble home toward the stern, making a nice sweeping shearline. Met wat hulp van een oude bekenden, Jeroen Klomp van voorheen MiniParts, en nu 7Heaven, is het probleem gevonden. De synchromesh ring van de tweede versnelling is (bijna) op. Blijkbaar ben ik net op tijd gestopt met rijden, anders was ook langzaam het tandwiel eraan gegaan. Hoofdas bijna helemaal ontleed. Dit tandwiel (met kleine tandjes) is conisch.
