In 1997 I was first elected to the positions of Branch Secretary of the United Firefighters Union of Australia (Queensland Branch) and State Secretary of the United Firefighters Union of Australia, Union of Employees, Queensland. I was honoured to have been returned in those roles until the elections in 2009. I consistently worked to improve the wages, working conditions and safety standards for all members of the Union. Also worth noting is that NONE. I am not, and never have been, a member of any.

Instrumental in the purchase of the Union's own premises, which has now doubled in value. Responsible for improvements in protective clothing worn by firefighters.

In 1991, I transferred to the Ipswich Area in South Eastern Region. Where I have worked ever since and remain working as an active firefighter to this day. After transferring to Ipswich it became apparent that there was a huge disparity between working conditions in Brisbane and those in regional Queensland. I then became involved as a Union.

I have shown my commitment to our Auxiliary Firefighter members over many years. I initiated the enrolment of Auxiliary Firefighters into the UFU and fought strongly against moves by the employer and other organisations to prevent membership of our Auxiliary brothers and sisters. I provided a lengthy affidavit into evidence before the Industrial Relations Commission to ensure the UFU could continue to represent all. I continue to stand by my record. And I continue to hold the view that all.
