If the shoe fits, buy it in every color: September 2010
http://buyitineverycolor.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 21, 2010. In the line of duty. While opening a can of black beans for dinner I managed to slice my finger open and bleed profusely. Two hours, a $20 copay, and seven stitches later I have this fashion statement to show for it:. I think I'll tell people I got in a knife fight or something- anything more glamorous than black beans. Saturday, September 18, 2010. Mark asked why I stood on the "men's side." It's because I sing tenor. I still wonder how I've found the time to do this, but I'...

If the shoe fits, buy it in every color: March 2011
http://buyitineverycolor.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 28, 2011. One year ago today. March 28, 2010 was the last time I had a coherent conversation with my mother. I was with my sister Susan in Pennsylvania; I had arrived the day prior (a Saturday) to celebrate Susan's birthday with her. We called Mom after church on Sunday, the 28 th. The next morning my mother suffered a massive cerebral hemorrhage. In thinking about how I want to remember or mark the anniversary of her death, I remember that Mom always thought that spending ponderous time at...

If the shoe fits, buy it in every color: just when you thought I'd forgotten about Blogger
http://buyitineverycolor.blogspot.com/2011/08/just-when-you-thought-id-forgotten.html
Friday, August 26, 2011. Just when you thought I'd forgotten about Blogger. Never mind that it has been three months since my last post. Never mind that I don't even know where to start to "catch up" so I don't think I'll even try. Never mind that this summer passed in a blur more quickly than any other in recent memory. Never mind that I should be folding laundry right now. Just never mind a lot of things. Here are a few random highlights from the past three months, in no particular order. Mark gave us ...

If the shoe fits, buy it in every color: January 2011
http://buyitineverycolor.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 15, 2011. The holidays: illustrated and annotated CliffNotes edition. Felt gratitude to celebrate Thanksgiving with close friends and niece Claire, since family was more sparse than usual. Contrary to premonition of “lame” Thanksgiving, it was not. Tortured myself perusing “Handmade Holiday” blogs (see Narrating Life: Here We Go. And Call Me Badger. Started new part-time job for the City of Wheat Ridge. And I'll talk to you later, Miranda). Very glad to have Emily and John home as nursi...

If the shoe fits, buy it in every color: November 2010
http://buyitineverycolor.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 10, 2010. It's hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that nearly three weeks have passed since Charlotte's wedding day. We planned, shopped, cooked, and sewed- anticipating the event for so long (well, six months)- and suddenly it's over. I felt initially overwhelmed at the thought of blogging about it all. But now that both Charlotte. First off, I simply must state the obvious and somewhat trite sentiment (though so, so real):. Dressed to match her younger sister Emily. Yes, ha...

If the shoe fits, buy it in every color: May 2011
http://buyitineverycolor.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Today was not just the last day of school for the year, but the end of an era for our family at Prospect Valley Elementary- the end of 17 continuous years as parents of children attending the school. I snagged this photo from the school's website, hence the grainy quality. Afterwards there was a reception on the front lawn, where I snapped a few photos. Sadly, Sarah was one of the few girls in the sixth grade who was not dressed like a sleazy cocktail waitress. I cajoled John into ...

If the shoe fits, buy it in every color: April 2011
http://buyitineverycolor.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 15, 2011. Just when I'm coming to terms with having a daughter who's married and another almost through college, my son- my little blonde-haired boy- goes to Prom. And his date has cleavage. Don't get me wrong- she's a very nice girl- I really like her, and I'm all for going to Prom, it's just that how did John get old enough to go? Look at her beautiful 'do! And I guess John will always be my little boy, even though he now towers over me at 6'5". *sigh*. Thursday, April 7, 2011. On the way...

If the shoe fits, buy it in every color: December 2010
http://buyitineverycolor.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 4, 2010. No, I haven't gone Missing in Action or AWOL. I'm currently in Pennsylvania helping my sister Susan with her clients' Christmas set-ups, something I do every time this year- or at least have done for the past five years. No time or energy for keeping up my own blog, but I'm doing a bit of ghost-blogging for her. You can read all about our week's adventures here. You gotta love sister time, no matter how exhausting the work! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I wear a size 7 1/2.
