Monday, March 29, 2010. Tynan has been very lucid lately. Meaning, he has been responding appropriately, asking interesting questions, taking an interest in his siblings, trying to be helpful, and has his imagination seeping out of every inch of his lean body. We see these things sporadically, but he has been very consistent for the past couple of weeks. His school OT, SLP, and private OT and SLP have also noted some interesting improvements. Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Just about everyday for the last 2 months, Tynan has done something that has left my jaw on the floor. He's coming back and making progress faster than ever. Tynan's new thing is self awareness! I think he actually showed true embarrassment yesterday. We were on our way to OT, and his brother and sister fell asleep in the car. Tuesday, August 31, 2010. I'll keep this short and relay it what I have seen from my perspective. Before Tynan was diagnosed and while practitioners (ie speech therapist) was gently nudging me toward further evaluations, there were a few roadblocks/misconceptions that prevented us from seeing the clear picture. If we had been brave enough to really look and listen, we could have gotten him help a full YEAR earlier. Yes, stubborn heads in this house. 2 He doesn't flap his hands so he does not have autism.
