The BM Report: The Blog of Bowling Aficionados: On the perception and reality of bowling prowess
http://bowlmovementswy.blogspot.com/2010/10/on-perception-and-reality-of-bowling.html
Wednesday, October 20, 2010. On the perception and reality of bowling prowess. If we assume that the average stature of adult men in each state is the same, and from each we were to draw samples of 100 , what is the probability that we would observe a difference in average stature of this magnitude? So what does this have to do with bowling? What about the rest of the Movements? October 21, 2010 at 12:18 AM. Does the reverse also hold true? October 21, 2010 at 5:59 AM. The BM Report: The Blog of Bowling Aficionados: Feeling Grounded
http://bowlmovementswy.blogspot.com/2010/10/feeling-grounded.html
Wednesday, October 6, 2010. As is obvious to the twoish people who read this blog, I have had a hard finding my mojo. There are a number of reasons for this, and I don't really want to get into them. But the good news is that I finally feel like I am ready to go. There are two things (I think) that will pull me out of my blogging slump: 1) strikes and 2) statistics. I am grateful for a seven pin decline to start the season. So the Movements are off and running. For the sake of an olde tyme BM Report ...

The BM Report: The Blog of Bowling Aficionados: May 2010
http://bowlmovementswy.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 1, 2010. Chapter 5: The Information Age. I like big data sets. I like searching for patterns and trying to explain them. I think data analysis is probably one of my greatest skills if not my greatest. I see the potential for study and analysis in many mundane things. I'm not sure exactly when I saw the potential to study bowling, but it was around the beginning of December 2008 that I started doing so. From there, it was pretty simple to begin building the rest of my spreadsheet. By the end...

The BM Report: The Blog of Bowling Aficionados: April 2010
http://bowlmovementswy.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 29, 2010. Bowling Alley Mural Reviews: La Flotilla. Today we review the mural La Flotilla. By Anonymous. This week's piece was submitted for review by Ken Pomeroy. Of kegel expression in which pins are often depicted as stationary while balls are on the attack. In contrast, in La Flotilla. Asks whether pins can be viewed as being in a constant state of internal conflict while bowling balls are little but conscientious objectors. Labels: Bowling alley murals. Tuesday, April 27, 2010. The BM Report: The Blog of Bowling Aficionados: Bowling like the Yankees
http://bowlmovementswy.blogspot.com/2010/10/bowling-like-yankees.html
Tuesday, October 19, 2010. Bowling like the Yankees. When we walked into the Lanes of Laramie last night, Game 3 of the ALCS was on the tube. Normally, I wouldn't have given this much thought. After all, our beloved Rockies did not make the playoffs this year, and I normally don't pay much attention to what's going on in the American league. But upon seeing the Rangers battle baseball's royalty, my thoughts immediately drifted to my bowling writing brother in Texas, EB Holschuh. There's always next week.

The BM Report: The Blog of Bowling Aficionados: September 2010
http://bowlmovementswy.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 28, 2010. In case you have been having thoughts to yourself that go something like this, "I wonder where dem Movements at? It's kind of a long story. Like the Easter Bunny, we've been in a semi-hibernation state, only to arise when the bell tolls marking the start of Memorial League of Bernaski. The bell has tolled, my friends. Plus, I have a hard time getting to the computer over the stack of fan mail that had accumulated. Well, that might be true if I was 1 mm tall, but I'm not.

The BM Report: The Blog of Bowling Aficionados: The Rules of Bowling: Averages
http://bowlmovementswy.blogspot.com/2009/12/rules-of-bowling-averages.html
Monday, December 28, 2009. The Rules of Bowling: Averages. In that light, I hope that somebody who has the power to change rules notices. Admittedly, I am somewhat selfishly inspired since I am going to use my own average as case and point ( as I have done before. Wrong In most cases, this would be true, but there are some obvious ways it could be incorrect. For example, what if the person who has averaged 150 has intentionally bowled poorly to establish a low average? No You can be confident that over t...

The BM Report: The Blog of Bowling Aficionados: Bowling Puzzler IX: Axial Rotations
http://bowlmovementswy.blogspot.com/2010/10/bowling-puzzler-ix-axial-rotations.html
Friday, October 8, 2010. Bowling Puzzler IX: Axial Rotations. It's time to bring back the bowling puzzler, and to inaugurate the new season, I decided to start with a relatively simple one. Let's begin with a couple of assumptions:. 1) A bowling ball is characterized by the maximum legal diameter as permitted by the USBC. 2) That ball rolls across the foul line. 3) On its way to the headpin, it does not bounce or skid. 4) It strikes the headpin dead center.
