Perhaps it is the Caribbean in me or more precisely the Barbados in me, but when someone publicly hails me up as beautiful, I smile a ‘thank you . Here, in my region, we don’t seek a thigh gap to be beautiful; our role models of beauty. So why should I be offended by such a comment focusing on physical beauty? An all out tug-a-war of two sides, is it?
