Mom. Vet. Survivor...Triathlete?: April 2013
http://momvetsurvivortriathlete.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Mom Vet. Survivor.Triathlete? Sunday, April 21, 2013. I want to qualify for Boston? Boston is the only marathon in the world, short of the olympics and championships, that you have to qualify for. I just learned this. If you don't know me well, you probably don't know that I LOVE a challenge. I LOVE being told that I can't do something because then I want to do it even more than ever. The rest of the story.I went on to a 4 year college, then got accepted to 7 veterinary schools, graduated second in m...

The Long Track Life (and a WOD or two): My CrossFit Open 15.3...A Yawnfest

The Long Track Life (and a WOD or two). Photo by Steve Penland. Saturday, March 14, 2015. My CrossFit Open 15.3.A Yawnfest. It just made me bored. Sure, there are letdowns, like my "spend nine minutes to get four T2B" Open WOD 15.1 debacle.but there have been many more times when I've surprised myself and done something I hadn't thought possible- and while I realize that for most people competitions are more about "how fast can I do this? Than "can I do this at all? WOD's- if I could just get a tiny.

Mom. Vet. Survivor...Triathlete?: February 2013
http://momvetsurvivortriathlete.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Mom Vet. Survivor.Triathlete? Friday, February 8, 2013. SKRATCH LABS HYDRATION MIX. I was lucky enough to get samples from Skratch Labs. Great, that are made from real. All-natural ingredients, and that are designed to optimize performance. And health for both sport and life". Apparently, Skratch hydration products have been used by pro cyclists for some time. Story has it that the pros would secretly change out their sponsors' sports drinks with Skratch. Although I have been sugar free (this go round) f...

The Long Track Life (and a WOD or two): This is NOT the Post I Wanted to be Writing Today
http://longtracklife.blogspot.com/2014/08/this-is-not-post-i-wanted-to-be-writing.html
The Long Track Life (and a WOD or two). Photo by Steve Penland. Tuesday, August 26, 2014. This is NOT the Post I Wanted to be Writing Today. Instead of writing about any of these things, though, I need to write about this:. I've soared to new heights in the "cover yourself. Yes, those are my legs, my ace bandage, my immobilizer, my crutches. Damn" doesn't even begin to cover it. Then I started set five. So as I completed the second lap of the four lap set I was thinking about what my skates were doing...

The Long Track Life (and a WOD or two): July 2015

The Long Track Life (and a WOD or two). Photo by Steve Penland. Saturday, July 4, 2015. Don't Take it for Granite. Which leads me to the bad pun in this post's title. Turns out that taking qualifying for granted was very premature. This year, the Granite Games folks have upped their advertising campaign and the end result is that there are now 81 competitors in my age class, from as far away as Tasmania (that's in Australia, apparently). And these old chicks are good. Is not conducive to maximum speed.

Mom Vet. Survivor.Triathlete? Sunday, December 29, 2013. Dusting off the blog. The last time I blogged was my race recap for Eagleman. Re-reading that rekindles my excitement to race again! And no better time since TODAY is 6 months until CHALLENGE AC! Mom: Just a recap: 4 kids - all busy. Oldest daughter,14, is on the swim team this year and loving it! Vet: I am on vacation until 1/2. Yeah! That doesn't mean the calls, emails and texts have stopped. But they have lessened. May 5 - NJ Half Marathon Relay.

The Long Track Life (and a WOD or two). Photo by Steve Penland. Thursday, December 13, 2012. It's been a short week of skating, and it looks like the odds are about 50/50 that it will get even shorter. I got cold and slow. So I quit a bit early, but it was a good skate. We just got 15 inches last Sunday (why, yes, yes I am. Sick of the phrase "Winter Wonderland," why do you ask? Although, to be honest, it is. December 14, 2012 at 10:46 AM. You have snow up there?
