Where's Grandma and Grandpa? Monday, August 31, 2015. The next day we drove about 30 miles north to see the famous Hopewell rocks. Here when the tide is low you can. Walk along the floor of the bay. The force of the tides have carved pillers of stone and flowerpot shapes out of the sandstone and conglomerate rock. Little balsam trees and dwarf spruce grow on top of the rocks. We often like to stay in Whittington at Whittington Woods campground near Rend lake. This is a pretty wooded campground with nice facilities.
