https://myoldtypewriter.wordpress.com/2015/06/08/new-key-tops-for-a-key-chopped-typewriter
The pleasures of a bunch of old typewriters. New Key Tops for a Key Chopped Typewriter. It was a crafting weekend here at home. We had a paper maché project going and a typewriter repair in progress on the dining room table. There were 10 key tops that had been chopped from Lady Royal Aristocrat that I needed to re-key before I developed tetanus from hitting the broken key levers. I first straightened out the levers which were very twisted from their violent chopping:. I had some J-B Weld SteekStik.

Again, bigger decisions are coming our way again, and the talk of packing and moving means that I feel I again have another Damocles sword dangling above my head. In 1972 Le Creuset hired Enzo Mari to design this particular line of pots. I love finding beautiful things like this, and who was responsible for their design. Mari is one of a long line of Italian modernists, responsible for countless beautiful objects of which I am surprised and happy to have discovered one more. No offense, Enzo, I’m referring to the pot. Tagged as Enzo Mari.

To err is human, to typewrite err, divine. Posted on August 4, 2015. When I fabricated Haruki Murakami’s Olivetti typewriter. In a recent post, I should have opted for a Lettera DL. For some reason, it’s the most common European typewriter on the Japanese Yahoo auction site. This one popped up on Australian Gumtree for a very reasonable $40, and only minutes away from my work address, so I snapped it up. The typewriter and the case are in excellent condition. Description of his Olivetti Lettera DL. DLs w...

The Foster Typewriter: Royal KHM | myoldtypewriter
https://myoldtypewriter.wordpress.com/2015/06/17/the-foster-typewriter-royal-khm
The pleasures of a bunch of old typewriters. The Foster Typewriter: Royal KHM. Typewriters may come and typewriters may go, but I’d like to keep my standing in-house collection under double digits. We’re a family of many hobbies and collections and our home is already bursting with fun stuff. I could use a barn. Last week I saw a very dirty, nonfunctional Royal KHM at my favorite neighborhood junk shop. I found it utterly COMPELLING:. The shop owner saw me staring at it longingly and told me I could have...

On paper, with typewriters. About this blog…. July 13, 2015. July 13, 2015. Half-way through the grilling, and shrinking nicely. At this point, I trimmed the tubing with about an inch spare. After trimming with a Stanley knife, I put the platen on a baking tray and gently rolled the platen on that under the heat, taking it out every 30 seconds or so to check the progress. There was a moment of dodgy-looking unevenness going on in the centre of the platen, but it all smoothed out. Like magic! Ok, so that&...

The pleasures of a bunch of old typewriters. Moby-Dick; or, The Olivetti Lexikon 80. Had a recent post entitled “Be Patient. Look Everywhere”. That offered words of encouragement to typewriter hunters. The gist: sometimes, when and where you least expect them, typewriters happen. You just need to be patient and persistent. My Goodwill NEVER has typewriters. It has stereos, waffle irons, sad clown figurines, acid wash jeans, golf clubs but NEVER typewriters. And decided to stop in at Goodwill. And: itR...
