MaryMaking: Bubble Printed Hydrangeas in Terra Cotta Pots

http://marymaking.blogspot.com/2015/07/bubble-printed-hydrangeas-in-terra.html

Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Bubble Printed Hydrangeas in Terra Cotta Pots. This project was inspired by this fantastic post from A Piece of a Rainbow. I mixed dish soap, liquid watercolor and a little water in plastic cups with some containers underneath to catch all the drippings. (Yes, it is a messy project! Each child simply took their straw and blew into the solution (as I reminded them, most had probably done with milk in the past - only now I was Encouraging this play! Just thought I'd share. Thursday, August 6, 2015. If you catch a firefly and keep it in a jar. You may find you have lost a tiny star. If you let it go then, back into the night,. You may see it once again, Star bright. My Draw, Paint, Print, Collage classes revisited this lesson I did in 2011. I added floral wire antennae to the cut fireflies before they were glued to their moonlit painted backgrounds. Artwork by children ages 5-11). August 17, 2016 at 10:07 PM. I appreciate your comments and feedback! Promote Your Page Too.

MaryMaking: Cuddly Koalas

http://marymaking.blogspot.com/2015/05/cuddly-koalas.html

Friday, May 22, 2015. I decided to stay on the continent of Australia with this mixed media Koala lesson. My daughter and I have been watching a wonderful series on Netflix called Dance Academy, filmed all round beautiful Sydney. This coupled with commercials for the "Koalafornia" exhibit at the San Diego Zoo clearly played a part in my choosing an Australian themed lesson. I appreciate your comments and feedback! MaryMaking: Uluru Landscape Aboriginal Inspired Art

http://marymaking.blogspot.com/2015/05/uluru-landscape-aboriginal-inspired-art.html

Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Uluru Landscape Aboriginal Inspired Art. Reminds me of a stage with lights. These mixed media paintings were inspired by a piece by Aboriginal artist, Danny Eastwood. You can find it on Flickr here. Uluru is a large sandstone monolithic rock in the middle of the Australian outback. Over 600 million years old, it is a holy place for the Anangu tribe of Aboriginal people who have been there over 10,000 years. Here's a link to the brief video I showed my class from Youtube:. Crafty inconsequential randomness in all its glory. Monday, April 30, 2012. 2012 Art Auction Project: Who Let the Dogs Out. The dogs are finished! And they turned out beyond my expectations. We got so many compliments on the canvases as I walked them back into the school to show the kids in Mrs. S's class how they turned out. They voted on names for their art pieces. The one above became "Who Let the Dogs Out". And the one below became "Rainbow Dogs". Saturday, April 28, 2012. Now the scary part.EEK!

Eclectic Chica: Printed Leaves with Pastel Echo Lines

http://eclecticchica.blogspot.com/2014/10/printed-leaves-with-pastel-echo-lines.html

Crafty inconsequential randomness in all its glory. Friday, October 3, 2014. Printed Leaves with Pastel Echo Lines. Wow did this project come together easier than I thought! 9x12 Black Construction Paper. Fall Leaves (freshly fallen, not crunchy). I thought we'd have more blobby prints with too much paint. But they printed their leaves magnificently! We let them dry while I then demonstrated how to do the echo lines with the pastels. But they all turned out pretty fabulous, don't you think? Please feel f...

Eclectic Chica: September 2012

http://eclecticchica.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Crafty inconsequential randomness in all its glory. Sunday, September 30, 2012. This was such an easy project for the first week of kindergarten for M's class. White construction paper, some brushes and tempera paint was all that was needed. Oh, and some cute little kindergarten hands.we needed those too. It was great to talk to all of the kids and get to know M's new class while I painted their hands and wrists tree bark brown. M got creative and added some flowers and a sun. VERY cute and VERY easy.

Crafty inconsequential randomness in all its glory. Thursday, September 18, 2014. Super Hero Second Graders. Okay, here is the lesson I was yakking about in my last post. Mrs H and I decided super hero self-portraits would be a nice display for the parents to see on Open House Night. We went with the #2 super hero version as I thought it would be the easiest for this class, and keeping everything on one sheet of paper would be easier to keep together. 18x24 white construction paper. Brushes, water cups.

http://eclecticchica.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Crafty inconsequential randomness in all its glory. Friday, November 21, 2014. Here is a fun and easy Fall lesson that required minimal supplies and used a fun art history lesson on Piet Mondrian. 9x12 white construction paper. Red, Yellow and Blue markers. Yep, that is all it took. Here are the easy steps. Then the students could start coloring in their shapes using yellow and blue and red. I let them keep the black markers because we talked quite a bit about composition in Mondrian's work and how a...

Crafty inconsequential randomness in all its glory. Wednesday, December 19, 2012. Grinch and Whoville Art Lesson. The inspiration for this project comes from The Elementary Art Room. She has such a great project with a Who-ville landscape and a giant Grinch. I just loved it when I first saw it. She also made a great handout. For Who-ville and inspired me to make a few of my own for our class lesson. Besides my handouts and two examples, I quickly showed them how I drew some Who-ville houses. Then we talk...
