Pondering a changing Ireland | Cosa Siúlacha
https://marymcoogan.wordpress.com/2013/11/13/pondering-a-changing-ireland
A little bit about me. Pondering a changing Ireland. November 13, 2013. The sky is still intact. I am not in the camp that thinks everything about Ireland is awful and depressing. I think the grass may be greener, but that this is not always a given. Ireland has a rich and fascinating history, one of the most ancient cultures and languages in Europe and countryside so beautiful it makes your heart ache (provided you can see it through the rain clouds). I have written before about how I believe in the pow...
January | 2014 | Cosa Siúlacha
https://marymcoogan.wordpress.com/2014/01
A little bit about me. Monthly Archives: January 2014. Thoughts on a lie in. January 24, 2014. I had the last two days off work, glorious lazy weekdays when the rest of the world is off bringing home the bacon and I am free to do as I please. I slept late both days. I didn’t particularly intend to, I had vague intentions of getting up and going for walks and writing….but these all slipped away in the coziness of my duvet while the grey January drizzle fell outside. 2013 and all that…. January 1, 2014.

A little bit about me. Normandy: history, reflection and ramblings. September 26, 2016. Since my early twenties, I have had a bad case of cosa siúlacha; wanderlust. Travel has taught me some of my most valuable life lessons, pushed my boundaries and shown me sides of myself, others and the world that continue to fascinate and amaze me. Each and every place has its stories to tell and recently I had the pleasure to visit Normandy and hear some of its stories. 14th Century timber framed house in Bayeux.
Why I’m voting yes…. | Cosa Siúlacha

A little bit about me. Why I’m voting yes…. April 21, 2015. On May 22nd we have a great opportunity. We can step out and exercise our democratic voice. I don’t expect everyone to share my opinion or to vote the same way I will, but I hope that we, as irish citizens, take the opportunity presented to us seriously. I hope that no one makes their decision based on half truths and misinformation. Imagine for a minute that you were told you could not marry your love? Our fellow citizens are trusting us with t...
Me and my words | Cosa Siúlacha

A little bit about me. Me and my words. October 17, 2013. Words can light fires in the minds of men. Words can wring tears from the hardest heart. 8221; -Patrick Rothfuss. Finding your own voice is both a natural and a creative process. The physical finding of voice simply gives form to the words. A child’s first words are a momentous landmark event (although my mother tells me she can’t remember mine; this is what happens when you’re the fourth child! 2 thoughts on “ Me and my words. 8230;from Clonmel to Ethiopia. December 5, 2014. People volunteer with VSO for different reasons. Some people have experienced a change of circumstances in life -bereavement, divorce, break up, early retirement, job loss- which allows them to entertain ideas that hitherto fore seemed impossible. Some people are bored and want a new challenge. Some people are looking for love, imagine! Others for opportunities and adventures. And others have a passion to do something about poverty in the world. In the ver...

8230;from Clonmel to Ethiopia. November 16, 2014. So, last week something extremely exciting happened. The President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, and his wife, Sabina Higgins came to Ethiopia! As the Ethiopian national broadcaster ran the story and was relaying footage all week, my colleagues, friends and neighbours in Woldia were aware of the visit of my President and they were all thrilled for me and proud by default. Nerves getting the better of me here. Me and Michael D. Pictured is President Mich...

Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Updates for February 2015. Published on 21 February 2015. First off hope everyone has survived this insanely crazy Winter thus far. It's been cold and snowy here in southern Indiana. But so far we are making it thru. I'm a little sad to say we got snowed in and have missed Indy B-sides this weekend , but my little short range Ford ranger was able to brave our long driveway enough to get to the market at least so that's something. Also I started a Tumblr blog for my artworks.
Mary Coogan | Musings and ramblings
A little bit about me. 10 days to go…. May 12, 2015. This is a cathartic exercise as I quite simply am at saturation point and I feel the need to write all of this down. I have listened to the no side and found no solid arguments, only conjecture, fear, discrimination and John Waters ranting away about something utterly unrelated. If the vote doesn’t carry I don’t know how I’ll look my fellow citizens in the eye and say ‘ yup, we scrutinised and we judged and we voted and it turns...8220;It’s again...
