A space for all those thoughts and ramblings that have nowhere else to go. 2013 '6 Moves' DVD Challenge. Wednesday, 25 March 2015. Spring-time in the wood. We may have had another sharp frost overnight but that doesn't seem to be slowing down the arrival of Spring. The first blossom is out on the blackthorn and wild cherry trees. Shoots of wood anemone and bluebells are through. There's frog spawn in the pond. Buds on the horse chestnuts and leaves on the hawthorn. Saturday, 21 March 2015. All in all ano...

A space for all those thoughts and ramblings that have nowhere else to go. 2013 '6 Moves' DVD Challenge. Wednesday, 25 February 2015. Calke Abbey - up close. Like any stately home, Calke Abbey looks impressive as you approach it .but get really close and the effects of time and weather can be seen. The buildings have been preserved as they were when the National Trust took them over, rather than restored to pristine newness. This fantastic glass roof isn't in the house - but the Orangery! The best of it ...

A space for all those thoughts and ramblings that have nowhere else to go. 2013 '6 Moves' DVD Challenge. Tuesday, 5 May 2015. Greenwood - with a hint of blue. The weather may have taken a downturn this last week but it hasn't stopped the wood gradually turning from brown to green, with a carpet of bluebells spreading beneath. 5 May 2015 at 23:09. Well, I might get out in the country this week. before they all fade. 5 May 2015 at 23:44. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). One of those days . I started out...

A space for all those thoughts and ramblings that have nowhere else to go. 2013 '6 Moves' DVD Challenge. Tuesday, 21 July 2015. Three Days in Pembrokeshire - blue skies, wildflowers and sunsets. We've recently been back down to the far west of Wales, to the countryside and coast around St Davids. Our holiday home this time was this lovely part-thatched cottage in the tiny village of Tretio, from Under the Thatch. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A novel on my phone; is it really possible? Welcome to my little suburban oasis, filled with flowers, fruit trees and vegetables. Friday, 14 August 2015. Picked earlier this week. It's the time of year when every allotment trip sees us coming home laden down with lots and lots of veg. Courgettes, white radish, cucumber (first of the season). Huge box of onions as we decided to lift them all. Runner beans, peas and spinach. French beans and broccoli. A smallish cabbage, lifted before it burst. And a mix of blackberries and late raspberries. We seem i...

Maryom's Garden: April 2015
http://maryomsgarden.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Welcome to my little suburban oasis, filled with flowers, fruit trees and vegetables. Tuesday, 28 April 2015. A brief Twitter conversation this afternoon led me to realise that I haven't posted any pics of the honesty running riot all round the garden! I've been too busy looking up in the air at appleblossom or the ornamental cherry bursting into flowers, and ignored this almost weed-like plant. That ability to seed as well as a weed is one of the things I love about it. Hardly any effort required! And su...

Welcome to my little suburban oasis, filled with flowers, fruit trees and vegetables. Wednesday, 22 July 2015. It's not all peas and beans. We seem inundated at the moment with pea and broad beans from the allotment .but that's not all that's ready to be picked. Last week we lifted the garlic - not a bad crop at all this year. Salvaged the remains of some over-sprouted broccoli and a red cabbage that looked ready to burst any minute. More raspberries, and some blackcurrants. The first beetroot of the year!

Making plans for summer - Staycationing again. Everybody's heard of staycationing, as in taking a holiday here in the UK. Well, I'm not sure if "extreme staycation-ing" is a thing known to anyone else, but it's how I describe a holiday taken from the comfort of your own home. We did it last year. Last year I made a list. But mostly it wil...
