Ldquo;She held the audience captive with her careful, slow delivery of her poems”. Mary has read her work at several literature festivals, including those at Ilkley, Keswick, Matlock Bath, Maryport and Bowness on Solway. Other events have included poetry readings at Carlisle, Whitehaven, Rydal, Wigton, Millhouse and Rosley. She has read in theatres, village halls, bookshops, libraries and private houses and has spoken to U3A and creative writing groups.

Mary has over 20 years’ experience of teaching English literature. She has taught on undergraduate programmes for the universities of Northumbria and UCLAN and on continuing education courses for Newcastle upon Tyne and Lancaster universities. She has taught literature classes for Cumbria Adult Education. Her interests range from medieval English to the present day. Mary has now retired from teaching in order to concentrate on her writing, but she does still teach occasional one off courses.
