marys bites: Italian Dressing Mix

http://www.marysbites.com/2013/02/italian-dressing-mix.html

Sharing the passion of cooking! Thursday, February 28, 2013. Do you ever wonder what are really in those handy mixes at the grocery store? You would have to have a chemistry degree to know all the real ingredients! Why not make your own mixes. I make my own taco seasoning mix and this mix as well. It tastes great and you know what is in there! 1 ½ teaspoon garlic powder. 1 tablespoon onion powder. 1 tablespoon parsley (dried). 1 ½ tablespoon salt. 1 teaspoon black pepper. For Italian Salad Dressing:.

marys bites: Split Pea and Ham Soup

http://www.marysbites.com/2013/03/split-pea-and-ham-soup.html

Sharing the passion of cooking! Sunday, March 3, 2013. Split Pea and Ham Soup. It's been cold all weekend here in Atlanta. It was even spitting a little snow earlier. Cold days are the best days to make a really comforting kind of soup. I've never made this soup before today but I did use to eat it all the time in Amsterdam. Mine turned out fantastic! And yes, I made my own croutons! Split Pea and Ham Soup. 1 lb bag of split peas. 1/4 cup olive oil. 1 medium onion, finely diced. 2 carrots, finely dices.

Sage Creek Ranch - Wildlife Record: Beauty of the Day

http://sagecreekranch.blogspot.com/2011/05/beauty-of-day.html

Sage Creek Ranch - Wildlife Record. Monday, May 30, 2011. Beauty of the Day. We were out for a stroll across Sage Creek Ranch the other day. These are some of the sites we regularly see on our journey. First we saw this little creature walking right next to our path. We think he and his family (and cousins and their families) live in our ponds. Tried to catch his head before he pulled it all the way back in. Then we came across this beautiful butterfly. His colors are so striking. Andrea and Tim's Smugmug.

Sage Creek Ranch - Wildlife Record: March 2010

http://sagecreekranch.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Sage Creek Ranch - Wildlife Record. Tuesday, March 30, 2010. The weather is finally getting gorgeous here. Everything (almost) is starting to bloom. There are a few things not quite blooming yet, and I'm a little concerned that some of our plants (like the lime tree) might have perished over our very odd winter. This is from one of the thousands of Oaks on the property. Couldn't believe how velvety the tiny little petals were. Can never remember the name of this bush - but it just looks pink and red.

Sage Creek Ranch - Wildlife Record: Is More Than a Year Too Long?

http://sagecreekranch.blogspot.com/2013/12/is-more-than-year-too-long.html

Sage Creek Ranch - Wildlife Record. Tuesday, December 17, 2013. Is More Than a Year Too Long? I guess it is if it's more than a year. We've been away from our blog for over a year. much has happened in that time and in some ways, many things are the same. These are some photos from before it got cold here in north Texas. The land and it's flora are colorful and lovely. Our trusty protector, Sherman. Always there to take a walk with us. This pond expansion is one of the big highlights since we last posted...

Sage Creek Ranch - Wildlife Record: Almost spring

http://sagecreekranch.blogspot.com/2014/03/almost-spring.html

Sage Creek Ranch - Wildlife Record. Saturday, March 15, 2014. Sage Creek Ranch is hopping right now. It's spring. Although it mostly doesn't look like it yet, it really is spring. The crocuses are blooming (although we got cold again after I posted this, so they probably don't look like this now. It's warm enough to be laying around in the sun. Humphrey is eight years old now and while he still pulls the night shift at Sage Creek, the nap times are getting longer. The cacti waits for the warmth.

Sage Creek Ranch - Wildlife Record: April 2010

http://sagecreekranch.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Sage Creek Ranch - Wildlife Record. Wednesday, April 21, 2010. The roses are about to burst forth with so much energy - there are probably a hundred buds ready to pop open! I'm missing my rose garden this week while I'm in Calgary. This rose bush has my favorite colored roses on it. Although the color seems to change each season. They were originally a two-toned orange. Sometimes they come in looking pink now. This is one of the two-toned that looks pink (below). What delights have you discovered lately?

Sage Creek Ranch - Wildlife Record. Tuesday, June 19, 2012. Wow Can't believe it's been a year since I posted to our blog! Sage Creek Ranch - Wildlife Record. Wednesday, March 30, 2011. A long time gone. Hi everyone -I've been gone from our blog for a long time now. A lot has happened in that time here on Sage Creek Ranch. Lots of trees have been cut and/or cut down entirely to create the space. We have a huge pile of tree debris that I'll post later. Sage Creek Ranch - Wildlife Record: August 2010

http://sagecreekranch.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Sage Creek Ranch - Wildlife Record. Wednesday, August 25, 2010. One of the activities we do to encourage wildlife is to purposely build possible habitats for the wild creatures we share the land with. So, instead of our woods looking park-like - no messy underbrush for example - we need to strategically place the underbrush (or overbrush or beside-the-brush) so that animals have safe spaces to hide from their predators. We've got several now in the yard by the house. These are some of them.
