Thursday, October 27, 2011. I just finished 27 sun salutes. That is 1/4 of 108, which is how many beads are on a mala. After doing 27 I don't know how anyone can get through all 108. 27 was pushing it for me, I was starting to hate it. I think I'm going to do it again though. It doesn't matter, since I'm doing them by myself, it just made me wonder. But I had the coins, not beads. I almost used an abacus, but it was too small and fiddly to mess with. Sunday, October 30, 2011. Today I completed a mala. In my own way. I did 27 sun salutes, 27 rounds of alternate nostril breathing, 27 repetitions of a mantra, and 27 complete breaths in savasana. The sun salutes didn't take as long to do because I changed the way I count them, and did several variations. I used my coins to count again because it worked well last time. Standing, inhale arms up overhead. Exhale arms down, folding forward to standing forward bend, hands by feet. Exhale back into child pose.
