Every profound spirit needs a mask. Nietzsche Beyond Good and Evil. Every profound spirit needs a mask. Nietzsche Beyond Good and Evil. Oh, I’ve wasted my life. Every profound spirit needs a mask. Nietzsche Beyond Good and Evil. Chapter One Part Four: He is This Madness! He is This Madness. Around the same time that I dressed like the Flash for my first grade Halloween party another classic superhero was being seen in homes on a regular basis. The television series. 27 in 1939. From the beginning Batman was a creature of the night, a much darker creation than Superman. I don’t think Kane and Finger sat down to create the perfect counterpoint to Superman, but tha...

Every profound spirit needs a mask. Nietzsche Beyond Good and Evil. Chapter One Part One: Origin Story. I came into this world in June of 1961, the same year that Reed Richards and his family stole a spaceship and embarked on their hero’s journey to the stars. Through an accidental exposure to cosmic rays they stole the fire of heaven and returned to Earth empowered. Their story helped launch a new age of comics and changed the way we saw our brightly costumed heroes. A little internet research has revea...

http://thoughtinmind.blogspot.com/2016/09/to-tell-troof-part-1-on-mission.html

Thursday, September 1, 2016. To Tell The TROOF, Part 1: On a Mission. This would be a very long journey, and the destination was uncharted, but my compass was pointing true north. I'VE TOUCHED UPON my upbringing in previous posts here and elsewhere, and the one word that most succinctly describes what my family experienced through the years is instability. So, what does one do when they are young and impressionable and they’ve formed an attachment to who or that which rescues them day after day? In my ca...

Her list of trades almost single-handedly drives up the stock-market price on slashes:  bellydancer. So, indulge this moment of adulation as I tell you about the force of creativity that is Kristin Ward…or as I first came to know her, the mystical  Morgiana. Links to this post. Tea Tales and Taksim. Notes From the Playground: Imaginary Stories

http://www.wayne-wise.com/2015/02/imaginary-stories.html

Notes From the Playground. Bedivere Book One: The King's Right Hand. Tuesday, February 17, 2015. As I write this DC Comics is once again planning an event called Convergence. That will change, in some way or another, the nature of the continuity of its universe. This is only a little over three years since the launch of the New 52, which threw out (in my opinion anyway), seventy-five years of history and legacy. Over at Marvel Comics they are hyping their new Secret Wars. First, some background. No wonde...

http://www.wayne-wise.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Notes From the Playground. Bedivere Book One: The King's Right Hand. Sunday, June 21, 2015. On Friday night, June 19, 2015, Dennis Dunaway and Michael Bruce of the original Alice Cooper Group, along with Joe and Albert Bouchard, founding members of Blue Oyster Cult, played a house party at the infamous Evaline Hotel in Pittsburgh. I wrote an article about how the whole thing came together for the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. You can read it. How was the experience of writing the book? DD: I really was having...

Notes From the Playground: Grey Legacy Tales

http://www.wayne-wise.com/p/grey-legacy-tales.html

Notes From the Playground. Bedivere Book One: The King's Right Hand. This page will be where I publish or print anything vaguely related to the Grey Legacy Comic. I have started a comic strip based on the Brix character from Grey Legacy Tales for the Chatham University Newspaper as part of my new position there as adjunct professor. This the first one. This the second. It's been a challenge thinking in terms of a three-panel strip. I'm used to thinking more in terms of the long form. Nice, awesome work!

Notes From the Playground. Bedivere Book One: The King's Right Hand. Tuesday, October 7, 2014. Nothing but. So help me, God. Recently I went to an art opening featuring the work of my friend Genevieve Barbee. For those who don't know, Genevieve, in addition to being an artist, runs an amazing podcast called the AP Collector. I've appeared on the show twice; once to talk about my own own work. And once alongside Marcel Walker to discuss the Chutz-POW! 8220; Truth or Dare? That was my father's final joke, ...

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you like the masks I make! I make leather masks. It has been my hobby for year and I totally love it -. The smell of leather, dyes and various solutions which remind me of my father’s artist studio. Among others, I made doctor plague masks (possibly my favourite! Cat, Kato, wolf, and many other designs. The only downside is that I find it hard to watch movies with subtitles as I can’t work and watch but working to music is better anyway! Note to self -. Find and add it.
