Do, Doing, Done. Need a little Inspiration? Design Help is just a click away. Entries in The Local Lot (6). A little more almond butter, a little less snark. I have been all over this city trying almond butter, why you ask? I was trying to prove a pompous, organically elitist salesman wrong, period. I was browsing the Ferry Building. Back to the cheese Please! Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 10:30AM. This little piggy went to market, and this little piggy stayed home. Click to read more . I heart food. ...

Prepping 4 28: Dark Days Meal #18
http://prepping428.blogspot.com/2010/03/dark-days-meal-18.html
Thursday, March 25, 2010. Dark Days Meal #18. This week I am not posting about a complete meal, even though that is the challenge! I used the other half of the dough and made a cinnamon/raisin/walnut loaf! I also made crackers plain and with three different seasonings: cinnamon/sugar, onion/garlic, and ginger/pepper/poppyseed. I loved the crackers and so did my kids! My son asked if I could make some for his class and if he could take them in his lunch! And made delicious carrot/daikon pickles! Tomato So...

Prepping 4 28: I'm Back...
http://prepping428.blogspot.com/2010/12/im-back.html
Tuesday, December 14, 2010. Well I haven't caught up on here yet, so here it goes.I am still a single mother of two kids, 4 and 6. One eats almost anything.plain, and the other eats anything as long as it's not meat. My four year old was the BEST eater, sauerkraut was her favorite food and she loved meat, cheese, etc. Lately she asks, "is that meat"? I think about telling her no, but eventually say yes and she states, "I don't like meat" and won't eat it! The challenge.the 4th annual Dark Days Challe...

Prepping 4 28: December 2010
http://prepping428.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 16, 2010. Dark Days Week 2. This will be my first chicken, so wish me luck! I can't mess up because I have not eaten chicken in almost a year, when I pledged to not buy meat from the store anymore. I thought that would be easy, but I didn't realize meat has seasons too and you better be in line for certain things. Sign up for the chicken CSA begins soon and I will not miss it! As he bit into one and I responded, "Well, parsnip potatoes".I know it's wrong, but sometimes just the wor...

Kitchen Assassin: June 2012
http://kitchenassassin.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Keep it clean. Leave no trace. Rad Rice and Fabulous Farro. I'm not sure why it took me so long but in a moment of bravery a few weeks ago, I decided to do a little online research to see if I might overcome this obstacle I felt in the kitchen. The source I opened was the first result after searching "cooking white rice on the stove". It said:. Rinse your rice until the water runs clear. Cover with water up to your first index finger knuckle. Bring to a boil uncovered. Leave it for twenty minutes. A thir...

Massa Organics: Our Strawbale House
http://massaorganics.blogspot.com/2007/12/if-youve-ever-wondered-why-there-is_07.html
Friday, December 7, 2007. The house has been a labor of love, and one that unlike our children, we actually birthed. We are reliving that process now because we have outgrown the original 1600 square feet we built. We started with two kids, and now have five. Love the whole birthing a house concept. December 9, 2007 at 9:21 PM. Are you building new - or adding on? January 21, 2008 at 8:50 PM. We are adding on! We'll let you know when you can help us put the bales in the walls. Massa Organics: Almonds are ready!
http://massaorganics.blogspot.com/2008/10/almonds-are-ready.html
Thursday, October 9, 2008. You may have read my previous post about almond harvest. Back in August. Well, the nuts are finally ready for sale! We'll have raw, roasted, and sliced almonds, as well as almond butter at many of our farmer's markets this weekend. They are also listed on our website now if you don't have a market near you. So, why does it take so long between harvest and eating? This recipe comes from Marianne Brenner, a local chef and columnist in Chico. 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin. Transfer nu...
