On October 9, 2014 TDI New England held a Lake Champlain Symposium at the ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center on the Burlington waterfront. The event was an informational session on the Lake Champlain segment of the proposed New England Clean Power Link. At the event, presentations regarding preliminary research were presented to the audience and a discussion was held describing how the project is proposed to be installed in Lake Champlain. The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources (ANR) and its departments will also play a central role in reviewing the project s potential effects on key environmental resources — Lake Champlain, wetlands and streams, threatened and endangered species, and possibly others — prior to issuing any permit decisions. The overland portion of the transmission line, approximately 56 miles in length, will be buried approximately four feet underground within existing public (state and town) road or railroad rights-of-way (ROWs). Very short sections of the route at the Lake Champlain entry and exit points, as well as at the converter site in Ludlow, will be located on private land that is controlled by TDI-NE.
