http://www.teachingwithtaskcards.com/2014/02/using-board-games-to-engage-students.html
Friday, February 28, 2014. Using Board Games to Engage Students with Task Cards! I'm always trying to think about new ways to use task cards since we use them so often. My students enjoy them, and they will ALWAYS tell me that they prefer task cards over worksheets. Always. Hands-down! I pulled out Connect Four, Chutes and Ladders, and Candy Lane. All games that the students would know how to play on their own. Let me tell you, I've never seen 5th graders get so excited about these games! April 26, 2016 a...

http://www.rundesroom.com/2013/09/were-off-to-great-start.html
We're Off to a GREAT Start! We had a GREAT first day back. I'm exhausted . but it's a good exhausted. This year I have 28 students in my grade 5/6 class - 7 students in grade 5, and 21 students in grade 6. Because half of my students are new to my school this year (we amalgamated with another school), we spent a lot of today getting to each other and building new relationships. We started out with a team-building activity I found on Science Gal's blog. To download your own copy. Back to School Bundle.

http://www.coffeecupslessonplans.com/2013/01/interactive-notebooks-integers-and.html
Interactive Notebooks: Integers and Coordinate Grid. Sunday, January 27, 2013. My smarties have been plowing through a short unit on Integers and the Coordinate Grid. I have approached this unit as a little review because they have already been introduced to Integers, Ordered Pairs and the Coordinate Grid in 5th grade with the overlap/transition of the Common Core. I made a few foldables to help them out with vocabulary because I am really trying to stress using "Math Speak" in math class. I think it is ...

Everybody is a Genius: Pencils
http://everybodyisageniusblog.blogspot.com/2013/02/pencils.html
But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. -Albert Einstein. Saturday, February 23, 2013. Sure it drives me crazy that they don't bring a pencil, but it's not worth being frustrated over every period. Kids end up with something to write with, I don't lose a ton of pencils, and I don't have to deal with ...
