Mathematical Musings: June 2010

http://mathematicalmusings.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, 24 June 2010. Gray boxes in evince. If you're having a weird problem with evince showing gray boxes instead of text in some pdfs, the problem could well be a bug in cairo. After some help from "danigm" on the #evince channel on irc.gnome.org, I found that the bug disappeared on upgrading libcairo to 1.9.8 (which is currently in debian experimental). Anyway, hopefully the next person who searches google for grey boxes in evince or indeed gray boxes in evince should find the solution!

Mathematical Musings: May 2007

http://mathematicalmusings.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, 13 May 2007. Tree display program (update). Well, I handed in a rather inconclusive version of the essay I mentioned. It and the program used to generate the trees are both here. I'd love it if anyone found the program useful - and anyone's more than welcome to do anything with the code, although I'd appreciate a heads-up out of interest. Enjoy! Links to this post. Copying UTF into Emacs. It's been annoying me for ages. The solution is detailed here. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
