Guiding Young Mathematicians in Small-Group Meetings. Laquo; Is There Room For Math That Isn’t Hard? Math in Life Photo Series. A Fraction Number Sense Routine. January 21, 2015 by kowedekind. As our 5th graders have begun thinking about addition of fractions, we want students to learn more than procedures for fraction computation. It was mathematical in ways that maths lessons weren't. For instance, the only time I ever asked a teacher how to do something that hadn't been taught was when I needed a bit of maths for a program I was writing. How do I stop this weather data looking so spiky? You need a moving average.". I used the Microworlds. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

mathexcel | A Mathematics Problem Explained Every Week
Why sin(30) = 1/2. June 10, 2006 at 2:05 am ( geometry. In trigonometry, sometimes we require students to learn the special values of sine, cosine and tangent at 30, 45, 60 degrees, because these are nice values. But I wonder if these facts are explained or do teachers just say sin(30) = 1/2 , memorise this! Heres my explanation.(I am not sure if they teach this in schools, but Ill look up the textbook the next time I visit popular bookstore.). Show that sin(30) = Opp/ Hyp = 1/2. 2) Hence, CD= BD = BC.
