Mtail-1.2.0.tgz. Mtail-1.2.0.zip. This is version 1.2. the major additions in this release are jython support, allow/deny filters, and the - tty flag to avoid coloring when non-terminal output is detected. thank you to hisham muhammad for suggesting the - tty flag. Is a user-submitted config file intended for php log output. if you plan to use mtail with php, this looks like a great starting point. many thanks to boyska for sending this in! Mtail was inspired primarily by my dissatisfaction with colortail.

Posted at 11:46 pm. We just watched The Atom Smashers. On PBS, a documentary about the search for the Higgs boson at Fermilab. It reminded me of the time I spent in the computing division at Fermilab in high school, an experience that I remember very fondly and for which I'm still enormously grateful. It also reminded me once again how lucky I was to have been there when the top quark was found. That kind of excitement is a pretty rare thing. Posted at 2:18 am. Posted at 12:11 am. This is a small collection of things that I think are worth recording or remembering, useful most probably only to myself. Windows setup / 2006-12-02. Things I like to do on Windows XP:. Install Firefox. (I wish there was a truly easy way to migrate Firefox preferences. I'm not sure copying around prefs.js is really reliable. Oh well. Configure this one by hand.). Download Putty and place it in a new directory. Create and save Putty sessions for the usual hosts. Create a "Bin" directory in. Someone told ...

More Scala + Hibernate | mh

In a prior post. On livejournal, I described a problem and partial solution to using Hibernate with Scala. When I left things, I said:. So I've done this experiment. Actually, it works very well. I was worried that many extra type annotations would be required, but with a couple of type aliases, things are pretty decent. So, now I declare each entity like:. Class Project[C : Context] { . }. And I change each implicit parameter to C, e.g.,. Def addPage(page: Page)(implicit context: C) { . }. A full exampl...

Nov 8th, 2007 01:00 am. I happened across this article. On the one hand, his comments really make me appreciate our little Zen Center. How can we use this to grow grow grow our group? At that point, I guess I just have to laugh at myself. Perhaps all the good guys are just unsuccessful bad guys. Mar 12th, 2007 05:20 pm. I updated my web site. I've also been working a little more on the Zen Center site. Eh, I'm just rambling.

Nov 12th, 2007 10:55 pm. So I spent most of the day wrestling with Hibernate and Scala. I was going to title this "Hibernate Annoyances," but that's a bit unfair. Generally, Hibernate and Scala work together very easily. But there are a couple of problems, and a bit of redemption at the end. Aug 31st, 2007 07:10 pm. How is my Cygwin install even connected with Logitech's video effects service? Is this Windows' fault, or Logitech's? Here are two threads on this topic, both a year old:.

Two Things - surrender. Sep 4th, 2007 05:26 pm. From the New York Times Mag. Talking about the mortgage market, explaining in simple terms what's going on. Here's something I'd like to highlight:. As I said before. In the context of globalization:. Lowenstein goes on to say: "There is no going back to the 3 percent fixed mortgages, single-earner households and tract housing of that era, but housing like any investment market could surely use a dose of (re-)regulation." Hmm. Finally, he says:. In this cas...

Aug 31st, 2007 07:10 pm. So, we recently were all given webcams at work. This seems frivolous, but whatever. I'll take it. So I installed the Logitech software, played with the webcam for five minutes, and tossed it in the drawer and forgot about it. Mysteriously, my Cygwin install started acting very strange. Zsh was often unable to fork processes, giving me all kinds of crazy DLL errors, all kinds of strange stuff. Bash seemed to work ok, but what could explain this?

Meta-Programming with Scala Part III: Partial function application. In my previous post. I suspected that there was no way to express partial function application in Scala’s type system. However Matt Hellige. Proofed me wrong in his comment. His solution uses a trait. For partially applying a function to some of its arguments. An abstract type. Exposed by the trait represents the resulting function which takes the remaining arguments. A full working example is available from my code page. 8230;] Level Pr...

I started developing web sites as a hobby 9 years ago, when making pretzels was the only "real job" I had known at the time. In 2003, I made the switch from hobbyist to professional when I joined the team at Timeline Communications as their lead web designer and I haven't looked back since. Thanks for stopping by!
