You get up and ride your bike in the cold (you can see your breath) to make it to the 8am service at church, only to find the sanctuary locked and no one there. After a few hard tugs at the door you remember that you were supposed to "Fall back" for daylight savings time and are now at the church an hour early. Fort. Monday, September 13, 2010. The Story Thus Far. We're in the middle of an interesting life experiment right now. Makinzie has just started a 12-month intensive nursing school. So far the experiment has been successful. We've made it through about three weeks now, with Makinzie coming home at least once a week for a couple of days and then driving back to Abilene for most of the week. I have actually been able to get in a good rhythm finally with reading the Daily Office. And the Daily Cowboys Report.

Wednesday, September 3, 2008. Once again it's been a while. I got to drive to Mississippi to meet my internet girlfriend (that is unfortunate). It was super great. We relaxed a lot, hung out with her family, visited a nice wildlife refuge, and ate. A LOT. It turns out when you go on a trip you eat double your weight in all sorts of food. It's a good thing I really love eating! She even had fish! They weren't growing in the ground but the plants all around them were. All in all, it was a superb trip.

Sunday, June 29, 2008. I went to mass tonight with a friend. Behind us sat this little girl with her mother. Both were wearing lacy headcoverings. Tuesday, January 27, 2009. I honor the Holy One who resides within you. I experienced something today I would have previously thought would never happen. Yesterday the farm was donated 10 chickens. I was told they were broilers which means they don't lay eggs and are primarily used for their meat. So, I was given the opportunity (most others here at the farm ducked out of) on this most depressingly rainy and cold day to butcher these chickens plus 5 rabbits. Tuesday, January 20, 2009.
