Friday, June 19, 2015. Heather found a vintage surveyors tripod at local vintage store that we love to shop at called Renovation Home. She has seen these tripods turned into lamps and called me to see if I could tackle this project.let's give it a try! The top of our tripod looks similar to this, there is a round treaded opening to attach some sort of surveyors equipment. I simply cut a piece of wood to sit in there and hold the lamp. Here is the final project. Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Trigg was really ex...

Monday, November 18, 2013. I realized that I hadn't posted any pictures of the Barn Door project (thanks for the comment Elizabeth! We love the idea of a barn door and we were trying to figure out where to utilize one. We thought it would be a great addition to the main floor powder bath. Our good friends, the Phillips, have an old family farm with some old barns. We bought the hardware from them. I gave the rail a good sanding and then a fresh coat of black paint. The rail is secure and ready for a door!

Monday, May 5, 2014. Heather grew up in Pella and, for her, this is the best time of the year! We headed to Pella on Saturday for the festivities. The dudes of the family have matching Dutch gear! Our little Dutch boy! We got to the square before the parade to participate in the street scrubbing. Buckets, yolk, brush.check! They send the street scrubbers down the street prior to the parade starting, we are ready to go! Water and brush.scrub away! Trigg did a great job and had fun scrubbing the streets.

Sunday, March 9, 2014. Inspired by Pinterest, Heather had the idea to make a bench seat at our dinning room table. So when we made the trip to Ikea to get our bookshelves, we grabbed a few of these cubes. And turned 5 of them into our bench. We found two long bench pads that fit perfectly! Now for a back rest. I started by making two big frame with an OSB front. To hang them, I used a 45 degree angle cleat. I stretched the batting and stapled around the edges. One panel finished.one to go. One fun activi...

Heather has our house decorated for fall, so let's take a little tour. The tree in our front yard is looking awesome right now, green to bright red! We made these pumpkins out of 4x4 posts and then some white and orange paint and added some sticks for stems. Our chalkboard sign got an orange pumpkin.and that went up on the mantel. We we...

Tuesday, November 25, 2014. Now that Christmas and winter are almost here, I thought I would do a quick recap of fall. This is one of my favorite fall pictures and captures our boys personalities pretty well.Garrett, mister serious and Trigg giggling in the background. We did make it to the Pumpkin Ranch again this year. Trigg got to jump on the trampolines. And ride a pony! Our little pumpkin in a wheelbarrow. This was the best smile we could get out of both of the boys! Our "Thankful" chalkboard sign.

Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Birthday Party - ONE. Our little man turned 1! So we had a party to celebrate! Heather did an awesome job decorating for his party. For the mantel, we built this backdrop frame (using my Kreg Jig. And covered with it fabric, hung some colorful fans, cut out a "1" from cardboard and a "Happy Birthday" chalkboard sign. Heather then cut out the banner to hang behind his highchair. There was also the "ONE" banner hanging from the front of his highchair. Close up of the "1". A few w...

Friday, January 17, 2014. We have had these lights for several years now, we got them from Ikea and they work great. We are going to use them in the basement and we thought it was time for some new lighting in the living room. We found these wall sconces on sale and ordered two! I'm a big fan of the glass pendant and the cloth cord. We got some filament bulbs to complete the "vintage" look. They installed fairly quickly and I think add a nice look to the room. 6 balloons 2 year old boy = hours of fun!

Friday, December 13, 2013. We need some rugs. Our house is starting to feel more and more like home. Toy room/library has come along way since we first moved in. Here it is day one. Here is carpet out and getting ready for new flooring. New floor and new trim. Add a wall of book shelves and it looks like a library! We would play on the floor, but after 15 minutes our rears would be sore from sitting on the floor.what do we need? Trigg is pretty sure the design is actually a train track! And a coat of "Sw...

Thursday, October 31, 2013. The end of October is here and Halloween is upon us. That means it was time to carve our pumpkins! Mom asked Trigg, "What do you want carved into your pumpkin, a happy face, a scary face? Trigg replied "An airplane! To which Mom responded "Great, Dad can help you with that". So we came up with a plan for an airplane! When we snap pictures, we have been asking Trigg to "Show us your teeth". and he did! Look at all those pumpkin guts and seeds! Look at that plane! With the weath...
