About Matt's Astronomy Site
http://www.mattastro.com/about.html
How I do it. Station (ISS) / Shuttle. UK TV Ad Music. About Matt's Astronomy Site. Welcome to Matt's Astronomy Website. My name is Matthew Cook, I live in Somerset UK. I have had an interest in the stars since an early age but have never 'taken the plunge' and got myself a telescope. That all changed in June of 2005 when I got an Evostar 120/1000 refractor. What a sight. Seeing the immense craters and also strange flat surfaces on the moon at such magnification was fantastic.

Suburban Skies: June 2009
http://suburban-skies.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 16 June 2009. From my bedroom window looking towards the Thames Valley at around 11.15 this evening. By the time I'd dashed downstairs to get a tripod for my camera, the display of luminous blue streamers had all but dissipated. If these were indeed the noctilucent clouds I've heard rumour of (and they look like it from the photos of others), this is the first time I've seem them for real. Posted by Suburban Skies. Suburban Skies: NLCs over Thames Valley...
http://suburban-skies.blogspot.com/2009/07/nlcs-over-thames-valley.html
Monday, 13 July 2009. NLCs over Thames Valley. Click on image for larger view. Noctilucent clouds put on a great show last night (July 12th). This was the view from my drive at around 10.30 BST, looking north-west. I grabbed a series of shots through a Sony Cybershot on auto (camera on a tripod this time) and put two frames together in a mosaic to give the above panorama. Posted by Suburban Skies. Suburban Skies: September 2008
http://suburban-skies.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, 25 September 2008. SXV-H9, Soligor 200mm telephoto lens. 20 x 180s subframes at full resolution, 16 darks, 16 flats/flat darks, calibrated and stacked in AIP4Win. The stars are rather bloated and I think it may be down to the lens really not being too good in terms of chromatic aberration (see Great Andromeda Nebula. And whilst some of the famed nebulosity is visible, there isn't as much of it as the experts. No nebulosity, but nice stars. Posted by Suburban Skies. Links to this post. At last, ...

The Welcome Matt
Saturday, March 05, 2011. This Week I Am Proud To Be a BYU Cougar. I believe BYU handled this situation absolutely perfectly. It’s unfortunate that Davies got himself into this situation, though he should be applauded for coming forward himself. But given that it happened (whatever it was), BYU did the right thing by suspending him from the team quickly and decisively. 1) Don’t enforce the Honor Code. 2) Enforce the Honor Code for all students except athletes. Is there really a choice here? I found mysel...
The Welcome Matt
Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, I feel like I'm a true East Coast guy now. I've lived out here since early 2001, and who knows if or when I'll ever leave. Plus, I own a black leather jacket. Then again, I still do read the Deseret News. On December 20, 2003. I attended Olympus High School. Like my father before me), then moved on to BYU. Like my mother before me), where I majored in both Music and Public Relations. More importantly, I was the editor-in-chief of the 100 Hour Board. Thinking that ...
