Matt Broeska: August 2012
http://mattbroeska.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 16, 2012. It's been a while so I thought I'd just throw a few videos up that I've (somewhat) recently had the pleasure of working on. I use that in the loosest of terms. In each of the following videos I did some camera and object tracking. I don't take credit for all of it. I can't. I didn't do all. I do plan on updating my demo reel sometime soon, but until that happens, I'm just going to post some of Shilo's. Comcast XfinityTV "Kitchen: Economy". Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Wednesday, October 19, 2011. I've decided to put this blog to rest. not that I've put that much work into it. In putting my new website. Online this past summer, I've also created a blog that is more in keeping with the style of that website. What does that mean? It means for the few people that read this site, I'll now be redirecting you to:. Http:/ mattbroeska.blogspot.com/. See how that link actually makes sense? See how it's the same as my website? Doesn't that seem easier? View my complete profile.
Matt Broeska: December 2011

Tuesday, December 6, 2011. Another Kick At The Can. So is it better? I think so. Is it perfect? Not yet. Will I work on it some more? Below is my composite showing on the left what it looked like before I added any effects or colour corrections. The right image is the same as the above image. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Matt Broeska: February 2010
http://mattbroeska.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 19, 2010. Just posting the updated, rendered turntable. It still needs fixes, but I'm feeling a need to move on to something else. I'll probably still do the hair research and post updates of that as I figure things out. Thursday, February 18, 2010. We're on reading week now so since I finished my marking yesterday I thought I'd fix some of the most glaring issues with my face. Er. my CG face that is. 3- Next was a roto/CG test. I wanted to see that I could actually get my fingers lo...
Matt Broeska: Last Post About The Car
http://mattbroeska.blogspot.com/2013/01/last-post-about-car.html
Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Last Post About The Car. A bigger issue has to do with the HDRI that I shot when this footage was filmed. I used the mirror ball method and unfortunately it's quite scratched. This gives me very elongated highlights. It would look much nicer if they were proper, circular highlights. Perhaps if/when I revisit this I'll block them out of the HDRI and put geometry in the scene to represent the ceiling lights. Anyway, here's the final render (for now). View my complete profile.
Matt Broeska: Updated Car Rendering
http://mattbroeska.blogspot.com/2013/01/updated-car-rendering.html
Saturday, January 26, 2013. I've been rendering this with better sample settings. I'm using Unified Sampling in Mental Ray. It's good, but my render isn't exactly fast. I can't say that I've really gone into the settings and optimized it for best possible render time. more like brute forcing it to render. Still it could be a bit better. I had a problem with Vector motion blur. It turns out all my camera settings like f-stop had been reset to 0. That doesn't make sense. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Matt Broeska: Modern Gaming
http://mattbroeska.blogspot.com/2013/04/modern-gaming.html
Monday, April 15, 2013. Based on reviews and my (now waning) love of all things Batman, I decided to buy Arkham City a few months ago when it was on sale for $7.50. With work and life in general being busy at the time, I had yet to download and install it, but now being relatively. Caught up on the two, I thought this would be the weekend to give it a go. But violence and gameplay isn't what I want to talk about right now. Instead, let's talk about how. Experience. Install, reboot. 8) Log in to Steam....

Friday, January 13, 2012. A New Project Idea. Below is a sample from a project idea I had a very long time ago. I'm not sure what inspired it, but since character animation isn't exactly my bag, I figured something involving a camera move and some basic dynamics would be interesting. Fast forward a few years and I saw the movie The Conformist. Which features the following shot:. Directed by Bernardo Bertolucci and (more importantly, IMO) shot by Vittorio Storaro. So what's my plan? Yes But as I see it, t...

Friday, May 8, 2015. Substance Designer and Rendering in Mental Ray. In the last year I've jumped into Substance Designer. It's node based workflow just makes sense after all these years of Fusion and Nuke. Because of that, potential change requests in textures/shaders are SO easy to make! Add a decal to a wall, branch it to affect normals and make it a bit bumpy, branch it to metallic and roughness to make it not shiny where the decal sits. Client doesn't like it? Working with the roughness/metallic wor...

I am a Hubble Fellow at the APS. I am observing the atmospheres of planets orbiting other stars (exoplanets) with the aim of determining their properties, such as chemical composition and thermal structure. Characterizing exoplanets is the key to understanding how they form and evolve. I am developing observational techniques that will be used in the future to target habitable planets and recognize potential signatures of life. You are in: Home.

Thoughts on the Future – Where technology trends may lead
Thoughts on the Future. Where technology trends may lead. Warehouses, mining and agriculture. When you think of self driving cars, see the Google cars in the streets of Mountain View, most of us imagine a future where drivers are gone, cars transport us around, safely and efficiently. This future is some way out. Some predict at least a decade, maybe considerably. Continue reading ». July 28, 2015. Save Me San Francisco. Continue reading ». July 27, 2015. Continue reading ».
