Matt's 60 mph Adventure: Our route
http://www.mattgivertzdoes60.blogspot.com/p/heres-detail-of-route-sarah-and-i.html
Here's the detail of the route Sarah and I intend to follow for our trip to Mongolia and back. We are considering taking the EuroTunnel from Folkestone to Calais as this takes 35 minutes and will give us more travelling time to get to Reims. We will take a ferry to cross the Bosphorus at Gallipoli on our way to Ephesus. The following chart gives our starting place and destination with the approximate distance between places. The date is when we leave wherever it is we are at. Berne, Switzerland to Milan,.
Matt's 60 mph Adventure: About my car
http://www.mattgivertzdoes60.blogspot.com/p/about-my-car.html
He has a 4 speed manual gearbox with synchromesh on 2nd, 3rd and top and with luck and a following wind goes from 0 to 60 mph in under 25 seconds (or so the manual says) and is capable of reaching a maximum top speed of 77 mph (yeah right! He has independent torsion bar and wishbone front suspension with semi-elliptic leaf springs at the rear. Drum brakes all round make sure he stops. A bit of history. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Help raise at least £15,000 for charity. On the road and fundraising.
Matt's 60 mph Adventure: Our Route (Update)
http://www.mattgivertzdoes60.blogspot.com/p/heres-detail-of-route-sarah-and-i_15.html
Our original route took us through Iran and into Turkmenistan and from there Uzbekistan and onwards to Mongolia through the other Stans and returning through Russia. For a variety of reasons (all speculative as the real reason is unknown) we did not get the authorisation code for Iran and so we needed to decide on a different route. The following chart is an update of the original one posted and gives our starting place and destination with the approximate distance between places. The date is when we...

Sunday, 2 August 2015. Well dear reader here we are nearly two months into our Journey and we have passed through three more countries and reached Tashkent the capital of Uzbekistan where the next stage of our adventure begins. We spent some more time in Turkey after leaving Istanbul and crossing the Bosphorus into Asia by Ferry from Eceabat. ANZAC Memorial in Eceabat. St John's Basilica in Selcuk. From Ephesus we drove along the coast and through Izmir to Oludeniz where we undertook a bit more R&R by do...
Matt's 60 mph Adventure: Our Charities
http://www.mattgivertzdoes60.blogspot.com/p/our-charities.html
In order to decide what charities we should support (in addition to Cool Earth which is a Mongol Rally pre-requisite) we asked people following our blog and Facebook group what charities they felt we should raise money for. We had a great response and ended up with a list of 12 charities which we had to go through to decide which to support. After some discussion Sarah and I decided that we would support all the charities that friends and followers suggested rather than pick one or two. Here, they are ca...

Albert's Story: Ready to rock 'n roll!
http://albertthemorrisminorsstory.blogspot.com/2015/06/ready-to-rock-n-roll.html
This is Albert's view and the associated story of his owner's adventure of driving to Mongolia and back. Monday, 1 June 2015. Ready to rock 'n roll! Well here we are with 4 days to go and pretty much all the little niggles sorted I'm ready to roll. The new speedo issue was all down to worn threads on the nylon connector into the gearbox. As the gearbox warmed up the threads slipped effectively disconnecting the cable. Anyway a newer connector with better threads solved the problem. Albert the Morris Minor.

Albert's Story: December 2014
http://albertthemorrisminorsstory.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
This is Albert's view and the associated story of his owner's adventure of driving to Mongolia and back. Sunday, 14 December 2014. Now most of me has been painted, in what I understand is Chevy Yellow, the rebuilding has started and bits are staring to be put onto my lovely new shell. The wood, an integral part of the structure, has been put on to allow it to be fitted as it seems while the wood maybe perfect I apparently am not and so things like rear wings need to be 'encouraged' to fit. As well as mak...

Albert's Story: My Transformation
http://albertthemorrisminorsstory.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.html
This is Albert's view and the associated story of his owner's adventure of driving to Mongolia and back. I was bought especially for enabling Matt and Sarah to drive to Mongolia and back. The main objective of my restoration was to create a Morris Traveller modified specifically for overland travel. There were some considerations taken into account in particular;. Ensuring that there is sufficient storage and that the internal space can be effectively used. After painting the wood work was added. In ...

This is Albert's view and the associated story of his owner's adventure of driving to Mongolia and back. Friday, 1 August 2014. In fact I did start falling to apart when Jonathan started playing around with my suspension and some of my wooden bits dropped off. He also discovered that the front cross member was welded, rather than bolted, on and so there was some unexpected additional work to be done to make the suspension good to go. Jonathan estimates I'm going to be indisposed for some months now but t...

All things Java, Spring, Groovy and Grails. Friday, February 8, 2013. Poor man's BDD with JUnit Rules. There's plenty of buzz in the agile circles around Behavior Driven Development (BDD) as a compliment (or replacement) for standard TDD development. Plenty of really powerful frameworks like Cucumber. Have popped up to give full stack implementations for developing Java apps with BDD. These are great frameworks and provide a lot of features, but if you work in a place where change. Your developers don't ...
