South Africa Summer 2010. Helping out/learning/not getting in the way at Eshowe Provincial Hospital. On June 13, 2010 by matthewclay10. A few of them were relative mysteries as well–signs of acute drowsiness or some kind of poisoning from home, yet their mothers are no help, or worse, absent entirely. The young doctor truly has her hands full! In the afternoon, I joined her in the POPD (Pediatric Out Patient Ward) to see incoming kids for lots of similar issues. Sigh. Nina has been a great travel partner; we watched a movie together on the plane, keeping in time with one another by pausing for a couple of seconds and trying to synchronize the videos.
