Justification – “Just as if you’ve never sinned”? Justification is more than wiping the slate clean, for you would then be in the state of neutrality, having done neither good nor bad. Granting that sin has been removed, you’ve been declared “not guilty” of any actual or original sin, to what does God turn to to grant you favorable status? Jesus Messiah and the Holy Wind of God. The other thing is Christos. Jesus Christ. Who else grew up thinking Christ was his surname? I think less explanation of the meaning of Christos would need to be made if we had always translated it Jesus Messiah or Jesus the Messiah or Jesus the Anointed One, probably anything like that would be preferable to the transliteration of Christos. I’m listening to Chris Tomlin’s “Jesus Messiah” right now and that is why I thought of such things. Matthew Stamper, Ph.D.

After reading perhaps the greatest chapter in any book I’ve read all year I came upon Stott’s teaching on Christ’s revelation of his justice, love, and one other thing that escapes me because I turned the tape (or the digital .mp3 thingy) off after he finished expounding the demonstration of love Christ showed on the cross.
