Steve Hawthorne: 11SC Mini-Challenges
http://steve-animates.blogspot.com/p/11sc-mini-challenges.html
The 11 Second Club blog was created through the wish to have somewhere to publish short mini-challenges. They were first created by Adam Bradford and then Matthew Finch (an awesome teacher and friend). With both being held up with their professional practices, I took the opportunity to get involved. Please find a selection of the briefs I have written. I posted under the name mini-challenges, in hope I'd be taken a little bit more serious. Mc 34: Me Ol'Bamboo). Mc 28: Its Hammer Time! Mc 25: Lets fight.

Steve Hawthorne: March 2014
http://steve-animates.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Polishing of my shot. This week has been an interesting learning experience. Becoming ever more fascinated regarding the relationships within the facial structure. Expressions like rage and mad/anger, may seem pretty similar. However, if the frontalis pushes the brows down when angry, why do they appear to be lifting for rage (something which would require the occipital belly)? Mike Safianoff summarized it as the following:. The brow is very much a combination of muscles and should be treated as whole...

Steve Hawthorne: Mery's driving experience
http://steve-animates.blogspot.com/2015/04/merys-driving-experience.html
Two day animation test exercise. 4 April 2015 at 19:38. Thats a pretty great little piece for 2 days! Im a big fan of how natural your body mechanics look. As an American, I find UK accents to be enchanting, and in trying to replicate how shes saying this line, I find Im using a ton of upper lip motion- you might try that and see if it adds some more energy to the lip sync. Steve Hawthorne: June 2014

Another aspect I wished to include was the involvement of a hand, or in this case two. Hands can reveal much of a character's thoughts. The chin rub in body language, is related to gesture of covering your mouth. He also uses it at the start, to help prop his head up to listen. The comedy he sees at the start, breaks this connection. For any who wish to check out the original source of the clip, please see here. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Bristol, United Kingdom. View my complete profile. BJ and the Blog.

Wanted to produce a ninja jump, inspired by Mario's double jump. The anticipation is pretty fast to fit within a game world. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Bristol, United Kingdom. Steve Hawthorne: Demo reel
http://steve-animates.blogspot.com/p/demo-reel.html
I've separated my work into two small reels. The work feels pretty separate in terms of approach. The first is more character based. The second is more mechanical. Lego Jurassic Park reel.
