I'm a Word Geek: December 2008
http://p-robspot.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
I'm a Word Geek. Wednesday, December 31, 2008. In the year 2009. Instead of some New Year's Resolutions, I have decided to list out some of my New Year's Expectations. In the year 2009, I expect:. A phone call in the middle of the day with good news. A phone call in the middle of the night with bad news. New friendships to emerge and grow. Old friendships to require some investment and energy. To laugh on at least one occasion. To cry, but not as often as I laugh (I hope). To sleep in a few times. To rea...

I'm a Word Geek: February 2009
http://p-robspot.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
I'm a Word Geek. Wednesday, February 25, 2009. I need to buy a CD. In a few weeks, I'm making an international trip, and I need your help. One of my personal traditions is to buy a CD before a trip overseas and listen to it a LOT during that experience. Then, once I'm home, I've made an emotional/memory attachment between that CD and that trip. Blogging from the NYMC. Apparently I'm part of the "official" group of bloggers. From this weekend's National Youth Ministry Conference. In any case, I'll try to ...

I'm a Word Geek: November 2008
http://p-robspot.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
I'm a Word Geek. Friday, November 28, 2008. Snow vs. Snow. Hmm, I was checking out some online "live" cams of Yosemite today, and I realized there really is a difference between a fresh snowfall and snow that fell a day or two earlier. Check out these differences:. The top photo was from today; I think it snowed in the mountains earlier this week. And the second photo was from earlier in the month, on the day of a snowfall. Remarkably difference. Music at the airport. The intent was to give travelers and...

I'm a Word Geek: Are you my friend?
http://p-robspot.blogspot.com/2010/01/are-you-my-friend.html
I'm a Word Geek. Monday, January 11, 2010. Are you my friend? What exactly is a friend? The world of social networking has radically altered how we use that word. It used to be a lot easier to know if someone truly was a friend or simply an acquaintance, a classmate, a coworker, or a neighbor. If we visited each other’s city, would we call or email or text in advance so we could get together? How do YOU know if someone is truly a friend? How do YOU differentiate between friends and acquaintances?

I'm a Word Geek: April 2009
http://p-robspot.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
I'm a Word Geek. Wednesday, April 01, 2009. I've thought about creating a garden in my back yard to help cut down on food costs. Of course, "thought about" is a wildly different stage from "did something about." Came across this piece on cnn.com about growing gardens during tough economic times. As American families try to stretch their food budgets during the recession, some are turning to the backyard, rather than the grocery store, as the place to look for produce. I'm a Word Geek: April 2011
http://p-robspot.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
I'm a Word Geek. Monday, April 18, 2011. Combined A/G institution would be named Evangel University. This important tidbit of info slipped past my previous reading of a news release from the Assemblies of God. About the proposal to consolidate Evangel University, Central Bible College, and AG Theological Seminary into one institution:. The proposal will be discussed at this summer's General Council in Phoenix. But it makes me wonder if the name issue will become, well, an issue for CBC and AGTS grads.

I'm a Word Geek: Yosemite snow
http://p-robspot.blogspot.com/2010/04/yosemite-snow.html
I'm a Word Geek. Monday, April 05, 2010. Sure enough, the storm that came through NorCal yesterday dropped snow on the Sierra. Yosemite Valley is around 4,000 feet, and it looks like the valley got a decent amount of snow. We sure got a lot of rain. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. I'm a Word Geek: March 2009
http://p-robspot.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
I'm a Word Geek. Sunday, March 29, 2009. Look out for the Cult of Snuggie. I asked for one of these for Christmas but was denied. Just kidding. I don't think I'd ever be caught in public wearing a Snuggie. but some people in San Francisco. The faithful lined up, two to three deep at the bar, looking like Druids in electric-blue fleece. Tim Jester and Brian Griffiths, two young San Francisco guys in polo shirts, leaned against a railing, surveying the scene. It looks cultish. Very cultish," Jester said.
