Friday, October 13, 2006. I haven't posted here in long while. It's been a busy few weeks with a variety of goings-on, both positive and negative. One of the things I have been working fervently on, however, is creating a unit of study for my English 11 class on, "The Age of AIDS.". She hopped on a plane, actually several planes, and jetted to South Africa for a 5 week stay. There, she volunteered in an orphanage for children who are HIV positive. There is an interesting story behind this idea - it was started as a challenge by Canadian doctor, Jane Philpott, to encourage doctors at Markham Stouffville Hospital to donate one day's pay to the Stephen Lewis Foundation.
