carrotmadman6's photoblog: Helios 44M 2/58
http://carrotmadman6.blogspot.com/2013/09/helios-44m-258.html
Sunday, September 1, 2013. 44M ƒ2.0 58mm lens is a copy of the Carl Zeiss Biotar 2/58 lens and was made in the USSR between 1958 to 1992. There exist several variants of the Helios 44 and they are most famous for:. Excellent center sharpness at all apertures. Dreamy" (cats-eye) bokeh when wide open. The Helios 44M is mainly a portrait lens on 35mm film cameras and thus works best on FF cameras. On my crop DSLR, the focal length (92mm equivalent) is closer to the 85mm short telephoto prime lenses. However...

http://carrotmadman6.blogspot.com/2011/07/le-pouce.html
Tuesday, July 19, 2011. Le Pouce Mountain. At 811m (or 812m), it is the 3rd highest peak in Mauritius. and from what I've heard, one of the easiest to climb. Look at it, it’s just an over-sized hill…. How hard can it be? To find out, last Saturday (9th July), accompanied by two friends, I was on my way to Mt. Le Pouce. Nearly a year after my trek down the Black River Gorges along with fellow Mauritian bloggers. I was now embarking on another first - mountain climbing. Ducks and moorhens under the bridge.

carrotmadman6's photoblog: Graduation
http://carrotmadman6.blogspot.com/2012/10/graduation.html
Saturday, October 6, 2012. In every university student’s life, at the end of his studies, there comes a day when everything comes together. A day when he can reap the rewards of nights spent Googling assignments, of days spent in the library copying homework and of the stress due to last-minute revisions. A day when his parents are proud of him. Graduation day. Well, enough of hyperbole, here’s my account of my graduation at UOM. So this is how it feels to be a wizard. :D. The corridor was crowded to the...

http://carrotmadman6.blogspot.com/2011/08/le-pouce-ii.html
Sunday, August 7, 2011. Another trek to Le Pouce Mountain, this time with some fellow tweeps. That was on last Sunday, the 31st July. It was only 3 weeks before that I had climbed Le Pouce. Hence the experience was still fresh in my mind. But this time I was better prepared, so climbing it should be a cinch. I mean, how hard can it be? So here we were, ready to conquer the 811m of Mt. Le Pouce. Dew on the plant leaves. After a brief walk through the sugarcane fields, we reached the base of the mountain.

http://carrotmadman6.blogspot.com/2011/10/lion-mountain-part-2.html
Sunday, October 30, 2011. Lion Mountain - Part 2. In the last post. We had been abandoned and left to explore the village of Treize Cantons in Vieux Grand Port. So far, we've had a history lesson, crossed a dual bridge, frightened a spider and saw some floating lands. Now, it was time to climb the mountain – Montagne Lion, 480m. Eventually, I managed to recover them using Ubuntu. :). As you might remember, the trail starts at the police station of Vieux Grand Port. This is the same street some years ago.

Tuesday, July 20, 2010. Black River Gorges National Park – Part 1. As Yashvin mentioned in his post Bloggers go hiking in Black River Gorges. The 3rd Mauritian Bloggers event, held on Saturday 17th July , consisted of a trek down Black River Gorges National Park, from Petrin to Black River. The first part of the trek (in green) was along the Macchabée trail to the viewing point. The second part (in red) was the descent to the Visitor’s Centre…. Who claimed to know the trails like the back of his hand),.

Wednesday, October 5, 2011. Lion Mountain - Part 1. Last Sunday (the 25th September), after watching some planes take off. I was on my way to the actual adventure of the day - climbing. After conquering the 812m of Le Pouce. I couldn't wait to climb Lion Mountain and it’s paltry 480m! How hard can it be? We started the trek by getting lost! The 3 worst explorers in history, dumped in the middle of nowhere. Utterly bewildered by everything! 100m ahead, we found out that we had landed at Ferney. This plaqu...

Sunday, December 4, 2011. Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire. At 828m, the highest point in Mauritius - the Black River Peak, most commonly known as Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire. This photo was taken last year when I had gone for a hike with fellow bloggers down the Black River Gorges. At that time, I had decided that one day I would definitely climb that mountain. Well, that day has finally arrived. After having earlier savoured the views from Cascade 500 pieds. 8220;You are here.”. The Black River Pe...
