The Next Great Adventure: Micronesia
http://nextgreatadventure08.blogspot.com/2009/03/micronesia.html
The Next Great Adventure. Friday, 13 March 2009. Once you've seen one island paradise. The variety in Micronesia is in the nuances, so here is my very handy rundown of what's what in the Pacific. Yap's sold as the Manta Ray island, but it is also the most traditional island in Micronesia, where women still go topless and tribal huts abound. I expected American military bases and Japanese weddings, so I wasn't disappointed. Part of America, although I'm not sure what part. The least developed of the islan...

The Next Great Adventure: Yap
http://nextgreatadventure08.blogspot.com/2009/03/yap.html
The Next Great Adventure. Wednesday, 4 March 2009. In all we're spending a week on Yap, the longest stop on Alex and my trip together. With its tropical beauty, (so far) perfect weather, amazing wildlife and idiosyncratic culture, that was definitely a good decision. Posted by Of No Fixed Abode. Excellent post . thanks for sharing. 20 October 2011 at 06:11. Property dealer in delhi. Awesome post i like it. 14 March 2012 at 05:31. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Next Great Adventure: January 2009
http://nextgreatadventure08.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
The Next Great Adventure. Wednesday, 28 January 2009. The advantage of my plan at the moment is Gawain's place has no internet, which means I can't distract myself with ringing people from home, email, facebook, blogs, newspapers and the like. It always amazes me how powerful the urge is to keep staring at a screen, no matter what's going on around you, and it's good to spend a bit of time incommunicado. Max has started a blog! The Next Great Adventure: December 2008
http://nextgreatadventure08.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
The Next Great Adventure. Sunday, 28 December 2008. Thoughts on Hong Kong. Five weeks is quite a while to spend anywhere as a transit point on your travels. It feels a bit different, making a run at setting up a life in a city and seeing how settled you can get. It's been exciting, and has helped me get ready for what's coming up - at least 22 flights, 10 countries and three months before I can think about going home. Posted by Of No Fixed Abode. The Next Great Adventure: April 2009
http://nextgreatadventure08.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
The Next Great Adventure. Tuesday, 28 April 2009. Explain this to me. I make eye contact with the guy sitting opposite me on the tube. I say "Hey, how's it going? Don't talk to me." So I don't. We get off at the same stop, get in the same lift, and he starts talking to me again. "You got a problem? He asks me, like I'm threatening him. I say it's a bit of an over the top reaction to a simple 'hello'. He gets aggressive. I tell him this is his issue, not mine, and walk off. Posted by Of No Fixed Abode.

The Next Great Adventure: September 2008
http://nextgreatadventure08.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
The Next Great Adventure. Monday, 22 September 2008. Things to do before I go. Find out when A gets to Shanghai, and whether he's still coming. My excitement about traveling with him is fast becoming excitement about traveling full stop. How do I get from Beijing to Shanghai? Read, watch, learn. What do I take? 2 x shirts (non-designer, obviously). 4 x boxers, socks. Books - three fiction/non-fiction books and two lonely planets. Posted by Of No Fixed Abode. Sunday, 21 September 2008. The Next Great Adventure: February 2009
http://nextgreatadventure08.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
The Next Great Adventure. Monday, 23 February 2009. The waitress stared at me in a mixture of shock and surprise, mingled with a little fear. This is common in Asia when people don't understand a question, or don't expect it. There's an obvious moment of panic, a widening of the eyes, a parting of the lips and the escape of an indistinct "Whaaa? Could you repeat that, sir? Sure thing. A hamburger please.". Ah, sir, I am so sorry, we do not have a ham burger.". Finally we visited an Orangutan sanctuary, w...

The Next Great Adventure: March 2009
http://nextgreatadventure08.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
The Next Great Adventure. Monday, 23 March 2009. Do these things have to happen in LA, or am I just lucky? I want to write for television. There's nothing intelligent on TV any more, it's terrible.". I squeezed my surprise in edgeways. "Is that true? What about the West Wing or.". Oh, yeah, like I've got time to watch for like an hour.". So you want intelligence but you only want it for five minutes? Apparently this passes the 'intelligent TV' test. Posted by Of No Fixed Abode. Friday, 20 March 2009.
