Shanelle in Japan: December 2005
http://shanellelschick.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 29, 2005. We spent a day doing the touristy thing in Kyoto earlier in the month with a couple of old schoolmates of Pete's. We visited a few temples and shrines with our trusty tour guide Paul, who is actually a volunteer English speaking tour guide. It was fantastic to be able to gain an insight into some of the history and being able to have questions answered was even better. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Osaka. Thursday, April 27, 2006. It was my birthday the day we left for Phuket. This shot is from the plane after the staff gave Pete and I complimentary Singapore Slings on our flight from Singapore to Phuket. Initially he had asked them to make an announcement, but they were unable to. Posted by shanelle at 10:42 PM. Links to this post. Wednesday, April 26, 2006. The following is an email that I received from one of my private students giving us advice for our trip to Shirahama and Wakayama about the hot spring baths there:. This was really amusing when I received it. I laughed for a good 10 minutes!

Shanelle in Japan: October 2005
http://shanellelschick.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 27, 2005. In August, our landlord took us out sailing on his yacht and a friend's with some of his other tennants. We had an awesome day. We set sail at about 9.30am and not long after the first of too many beers were cracked (this is not something I indulge in too often! Seriously though, it was delicious. I also tried fresh fish sushi which was also great. Maybe it was the copious amounts of beer that was consumed that helped the food taste so good! Can you steer a boat? In August, we...

Shanelle in Japan: September 2005

Sunday, September 25, 2005. One of the things that Minoh is famous for is its monkeys. So we were disappointed when we got to the falls and there weren't any monkeys to be seen. We asked a local and he said that we needed to walk up onto the highway, we would have a better chance at seeing them up there. Well, one was drinking a can of coffee . Posted by shanelle at 1:35 PM. Shanelle in Japan: November 2005
http://shanellelschick.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 27, 2005. Last month we made the 3 hour trip to Iga Ueno, home of the Ninja. It was a great day out, but it was absolutely freezing cold! We had to change trains about 3 times along the way, but the hassle was all worth it in the end. Other than the castle and the museum, there wasn't a lot to see. Although at least we can tell people now that we've seen the home of the Ninja! Oh and I almost forgot to mention, the second picture, we found really amusing at the time. Obviously you co...

Shanelle in Japan: March 2006
http://shanellelschick.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 26, 2006. Plums, not Cherries. Last Friday it was an absolutely glorious day, so we decided to head down to the plum garden at Osaka Castle for a picnic lunch. The garden was alive with various kinds of plum flowers, which were very beautiful. Again, we had to question what the cherry blossoms are going to be like, if these were in fact the second rate plums! Posted by shanelle at 5:29 PM. Links to this post. The fact is that this is a sport that dates back many centuries and now it's a dyi...

Shanelle in Japan: February 2006

Sunday, February 26, 2006. Believe it or not, it's made from snow. The first sculpture is a representation of "The Chronicles of Narnia" which has recently opened at the movies. The second sculpture is Ai Miyazato the young Japanese golfer from Okinawa. These were massive, about 20 metres long, but intricately detailed. Posted by shanelle at 12:42 PM. Links to this post.
