Hopscotch: April 2007

Monday, April 30, 2007. And then, in one huge push of wind, the sky opened up and sheets of water poured down on us. Sideways rain swept easily under the tents, pulling the chalk up off the ground, creating storms of color. The images went from perfect Renaissance precision, to abstract chaos, to puddles of dark, dull shades of blue. Friday, April 27, 2007. Today I rode my Rock Hopper (which is so smooth these days after Matt intervened in the tire crisis) over to Bentleys to get some work done. Bent...

Saturday, March 8, 2008. Wow, you've taken subconscious fear to a whole new level here, Kel. Can you switch carrels? Do you feel this way in - crap, where's that place you go work all the time where they actually know who you are? I keep wanting to say Borders which is making it impossible for me to remember the real name. Anyway, do you feel this way there? March 9, 2008 at 9:46 AM. To be honest, it's the entire library. And I have to heard over there now. To be crushed. March 11, 2008 at 2:08 PM.

Wednesday, February 6, 2008. Just last week yet another natural wonder slipped by me. I flew from Tucson, AZ all the way up to Niagara, NY, spent three days there, and never got to see the falls. The entire town was quiet, wrapped in the silence of heavy snowfall, but everywhere I went the sound of rushing water echoed in my ears. Oh Kel, I didn't realize you didn't get to see the falls while you were there. How is that possible? February 8, 2008 at 9:53 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Wednesday, March 19, 2008. Riding my bike this morning, I passed by four protesters at the corner of Speedway and Campbell. The four of them were gathered at that busy intersection to take on the issues of global warming, the war in Iraq, and teenage drug use. My anxiety over taking on too much with chapter five was put quickly into perspective. Saturday, March 8, 2008. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Tuesday, May 29, 2007. Abandonment, Two Tables Over. Monday, May 28, 2007. But it isn’t romantic. Their skin is drying out and sloughing off—too much fresh water in the pores. And people are lining the shores, cell phone cameras at the ready, applauding any slight movement. As much as I want there to be luck and magic in the story of whales in the river, mostly I see two animals who have become uncomfortable in their own skin. Friday, May 25, 2007. Wednesday, January 2, 2008. Of rest. Today there was the task of getting home, but tonight there is no excuse. Tonight there is just the quiet of three people spread out, each in a different room of this big house. It’s the perfect moment to return to my writing, but instead I’m thinking about snow banks and pine trees and places that never feel like work. I went to the library. Happily, I got some work done, but it is a struggle to stay focused. January 3, 2008 at 7:07 AM. Milo in the snow! Http:/ mayam...
