PASO SPONSORS 15 PRIMARY STUDENTS. PASO SPONSORS 15 PRIMARY STUDENTS. The Guatemalan government removed inscription fees two years ago. This removed a basic burden on families, but education funding did not replace the lost revenue for schools. Rural schools particularly found themselves with books and equipment. Paso Por Paso decided to continue providing support for fifteen students whose family found it difficult to provide shows, clothing, uniforms, paper and pencils, and lunches.

Director Judith Rapson discusses twinning Warminster Elementary School in Ontario with Tierra Linda Primary in Guatemala. The two schools swap photos, cards, letters and make posters to keep track of their activities. Guatemalan and Canadian children know more about geography and diferent cultures. Tierra Linda children receive letters from Warminster children.
