maytree lane: December 2011
http://maytreelane.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Have yourself a merry little christmas. To all my readers and fellow crafters, I wish you all a merry christmas filled with love and cheer :). Sad, sad times. Just wanted to pop in and say that we lost my beautiful Auntie Christine a few weeks ago. She was a brave, hilarious lady and we will all miss her so much. She was a straight talking woman with a wicked sense of humour and a dirty laugh! Grab every minute with both hands, life is way too short. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Sad, sad times.

I have started my Christmas crafting in good time this year for a change :). I am making felt hanging decorations for the tree and mirrors/picture frames. I wanted a round shape like a bauble, but something cute. After messing around with paper and card (Maltesers boxes are the perfect colour! I came up with these cheeky robins. They have plaited yarn legs with 3 little toes, and black beady eyes. They are all slightly unique as I have hand cut and stitched each one. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Guess what we are planning today. Little brother wanted chocolate buttercream, and ate one before I got chance to take the pic! Big sister went with girlie pink and flowers. Little sister picked wafer daisies and chocolate hearts. Big brother fancied blue glitter and choccie sprinkles. They all managed to save one for after dinner. They all had a go at piping as well as adding sprinkles and decorations. A rainy afternoon well spent :). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Make do and mend.
maytree lane: Classic movies your kids should see
http://maytreelane.blogspot.com/2012/02/classic-movies-your-kids-should-see.html
Classic movies your kids should see. My hubs and me have realised that our kids (ages 2 to 10) have been spoilt by the superb. Pixar and Disney movies! I am not knocking Pixar, Disney or animation at all - we all LOVE these movies! They are visually stunning, polished and perfectly written for children. But against this benchmark, it's hard for them to engage with live action family films like we grew up with. So we went on a mission to educate them with our favourite childhood movies :). The Wizard of Oz.

Folksy friday: this little piggy went to market. My folksy Friday this week was indirectly inspired by a lovely lady from America called Deanna. She is a quilter, and sent me a lovely package of fabric scraps from her projects. New fabric makes me a bit giddy, and it's great to get all sorts of things you wouldn't have found or chosen yourself. There were some animal prints, and I couldn't resist these little piggies so I put them on a fabric collage and added a keyring. Top sock drawer - petunia the pig.

Julia D Art: January 2011
http://juliadart.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Friday, 28 January 2011. My old handbag has been falling to bits for quite a while now so this week along with one hundred and one other tasks i decided to make myself a new one. Here is the finished article and some photos of it in the making. I also used some really heavy interfacing, the kind that you would use for tie-backs, it was a little tricky to work with and it would have been better with something not quite so heavy, but there was no choice at the time. At this point i realised that i should h...

Thursday, 21 April 2011. It's been a while since my last post. I've been a little busy with something, although I'm not sure what! Perhaps life got in the way. Loch Lomond in April. One of my best designs! Thomas is even on his way over the bridge. Carsaig bay in March. As you know I sell a some of my crafts on Folksy. Julia D Art: Flowers and things
http://juliadart.blogspot.com/2011/02/flowers-and-things.html
Monday, 28 February 2011. It's been a flowery week - not just in my crafting world - i've also had a snowdrop in my garden, just the one, the others I planted back in October refused to produce flowers. Spring is finally on it's way. Made using a variety of felted woolen jumpers and scarves. Put your woolens on a hot wash and hey presto they've shrunk and felted. Tumble drying can add to the effect, as can a second wash. Cast on, Cast off Knitted flower brooches. But didn't quite get there. Subscribe to:...

Julia D Art: How to take apart & fix an X-Cut Impress Machine
http://juliadart.blogspot.com/2011/03/how-to-take-apart-fix-x-cut-impress.html
Monday, 7 March 2011. How to take apart and fix an X-Cut Impress Machine. Well this blog was going to be about my trip to the Hobbycrafts and Creative Stitches show at the SECC in Glasgow at the weekend, but on return I broke my X-cut Impress Machine trying out my new dies! I thought, then I was off to find the screwdrivers. 1 Under the rubber foot there are 4 screws - I took this photo after putting it all back together. 5 These cogs were fine, no missing teeth. 6 After a little thought, I decided that ...
