The Tokyo Experience: 11.07
http://nihonjinhafu.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 21, 2007. It's been 6 months since I last posted on this blog! A lot has happened, good, bad and in-between. Just the same as in your life, I'm sure? I'll be making some significant changes (job, location and more.) in my life in the next month or two and post about them when something is official. I guess at this time, I would just like to encourage everyone who lives in the United States to find our more about Congressman Ron Paul! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Tokyo Experience: Next

Thursday, July 17, 2008. Change. After careful consideration, I decided to return to the United States and so this will be my last post on The Tokyo Experience. Looking back on my time in Japan concisely, I can say that it was exactly what it needed to be. I had the chance to spend time with my family, make some new lifelong friends, learn the basics of the language/culture and gain invaluable work and life experiences. Monday, November 27, 2006. I'm excited about the opportunities for the future and at the same time, grateful for the past experiences I've had. I really enjoyed working in the schools and having the chance to learn about Japanese culture first hand. I will miss the smiles and energy of the kids I've been teaching and will always be thankful for the realization of the great responsibility we have for future generations. The Tokyo Experience: 05.06
http://nihonjinhafu.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 11, 2006. This is one week late, I'm catching my breath. Golden Week is one of the biggest holidays in Japan. I was able to meet members of my family that I had no memory of. Kindness and deep reflections saturated the atmosphere as we flipped through books of memories. I'm left thankful and with a hint of understanding about our family's history. I was able to sit in the same garden that my mother grew up with. I sat and said a short prayer, to let her know that I had finally arrived.

Saturday, May 05, 2007. I took a solo trip to the Izu Peninsula, to a small town called Shimoda. It's famous for onsens, beautiful mountains and white beaches. It's also where Commodore Perry landed. back in the day, and the start of US-Japanese trade relations. The train stopped running about midnight on my way there, so I ended up "camping out" the first night somewhere between Tokyo and Izu. The ocean met the mountains in way that I hadn't seen since living in Hawaii. Japan however, has a more mys...

Sunday, March 25, 2007. It was a mind opening experience, full of challenges, self-discovery and emotion. Click any thumbnail for the full image. Thursday, March 01, 2007. I had lunch with some close friends today. We talked about how busy our work is now, a little about relationships and about my upcoming trip to Egypt. I asked one of my friends to let me borrow some corporate finance material that he had told me about before and we agreed that I would stop by his office after work. My name is Sammie, I...

Sunday, June 04, 2006. Knockin' on summer's door. Fun in the sun? Not in a suit. I'm seriously considering moving to Hokkaido for the summer. Tokyo is like a giant convection oven in the summer season, a humid hell. For now the weather is pleasant, but my instincts are telling me to plan ahead for the heat. Air conditioning in Tokyo works wonders to cool indoor spaces, but its exhaust only adds to the misery outdoors. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Knockin on summers door.
