Butterlamps in windows, on doorsteps, in flower mandala's on the street mark the start of the New Year in Nepal. Twice, some 20 years apart, I was fortunate enough to spend Nepalese New Year's in Kathmandu. With the rain and clouds gone, the starry frosty nights take over. I love seeing the southern cross. As a globalite it is hard to define 'home'. Seeing the southern cross does that in a strange way. I look out for it when I fly between the northern and southern hemispheres, once it becomes visible I know I am heading to where the constellations 'feel and look right', my GPS of home.
