Dig/Palimpsest - Meredith Knapp Brickell
http://mbrickell.com/dig/palimpsest
The House Life Project. Dig and Palimpsest are made in response to a barn fire that occurred on the farm where I was raised in Maryland. Over time, I have watched the marks on the ground where the barn once stood fade into the surrounding landscape. This process has informed my interest in place, in particular, its relationship to history, memory and the visible and invisible effects of time. - - -photo: Michelle Pemberton. Palimpsest: plaster, soil, paint, 32’w x 56”h x 10”d, 2011.

About - Meredith Knapp Brickell
http://mbrickell.com/about
The House Life Project. Meredith Brickell’s work draws from architectural forms, historical narratives and elements of the physical landscape. This work is informed by particular sites, especially those that reflect the impermanent nature of places and the ways that these places are continuously shifting and being redefined. Brickell presents work in national and international exhibitions and is the project leader for the House Life Project. Video from the Taiwan Ceramics Biennale Symposium, Summer 2008.
Renderings - Meredith Knapp Brickell

The House Life Project. Renderings, porcelain, 2008-2012. These three-dimensional line drawings were quickly sketched in porcelain. The challenge was to use this delicate material in the same gestural way we use pencil on paper to depict simple outlines of forms. Like a sketch, these pieces act more as a memory of or reference to the form than the form itself. photos: Lynn Ruck.

Wednesday, September 2, 2009. Quick update on the recent goings on here in North Carolina. I’m in a bit of shock at how cold it is getting at night already. Shaunna Lyons Pottery: 2012 new work and images
http://shaunnalyonspottery.blogspot.com/2012/02/2012-new-work-and-images.html
Sunday, February 12, 2012. 2012 new work and images. Here are some recent images taken by Mary Vogel in Bakersville. She did a great job and I found her a delight to work with. It's cold here, alas it is February, and my latest batch of pots are currently frozen. This probably doesn't bode well for their future. Still can't control the weather. Is it spring yet? Sunday, December 13, 2009. Here is some recent amber work. Things are just calming down after a hectic fall of work at Penland and gallery deadlines. Tracey Broome : March 2009
http://tsbroome.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 28, 2009. I've been sick all week either from a bug my kid's gave me last Friday or from inhaling too much raku smoke on Saturday (or a combination of the two) but I have felt like crap all week and have done nothing but lay on the sofa with my laptop and TV. My brain is mush now and I have got to get back into reality. Do you know how lame daytime TV is? My mom said most likely Cole Pottery but I don't know. Don't you love the price tag on this one? Links to this post. This sweet little ...

Mitt liv - Just idag
