love, michelle: engagement
http://michelleastiles.blogspot.com/2010/11/engagement.html
Saturday, November 6. Engagement is lovely. Fun, and difficult, and new. It's challenging. It hurts that Jon lives so far away. But I am so thankful. And happy. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.". I received the most adorable care package last week from my friend Laura. Inside the card read. May you never go hungry (thus the little cakes),. May your lives always have flavor (thus the salt),. May you always have shelter and a warm home (thus the candle),.

love, michelle: it's a love story ♥
http://michelleastiles.blogspot.com/2010/10/its-love-story.html
Thursday, October 21. It's a love story ♥. He asked me to marry him, and I said yes! I feel like I'm the happiest, luckiest girl in this entire world. They say "when you know, you know", and although I never believed it before, I knew pretty soon that I was in love with Jon, and he loved me back. Naturally delighted, I said okay, and he told me I would need to stand up and close my eyes for him to give it to me. I did, of course, and when he told me to open my eyes, he was down on one knee in front o...

love, michelle: random thoughts in late September
http://michelleastiles.blogspot.com/2010/09/random-thoughts-in-late-september.html
Thursday, September 30. Random thoughts in late September. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.". When I think about my past three years and one month of college, the lessons that I have learned are of breadth and depth I would have never imagined at 18. And that the journey will continue. This made me cry. You are such a beautiful person.

love, michelle: walk the walls
http://michelleastiles.blogspot.com/2010/09/walk-walls.html
Thursday, September 23. Given the chance, there's really not too much I'd change about the time I spent in England earlier this year. It was, snow and ice included, as near to perfect as 6 months could be. From the places I traveled, to the friends I made, to the various work I did, to the boy I was crazy enough to start dating, I wouldn't trade the stacks of pictures, pages of journal writing, and innumerable memories now holding down the bookshelves of my heart for the world. Yet as I sit here in Conwa...

love, michelle: February 2011

Thursday, February 24. Advice for a girl who is traveling. Between school and friends, fiancé and wedding planning, visa acquiring and trying to eat, sleep and stay healthy.I seem to have neglected my blog a bit this semester! I am, however, in a creative writing class this semester and thought I'd share some of what I've been working on for that if nothing else. Exclaiming “oh my goodness, that’s not bad in my country! The two of you’ve planned to spend the day there, and midway through the mornin...

love, michelle: one week
http://michelleastiles.blogspot.com/2010/06/one-week.html
Sunday, June 27. This morning Jon and I went to a family-oriented church service with lots of kids squealing and shaking maracas the whole time. It was brilliant. They sang a children's song that was so simple and beautiful:. One more step along the world I go,. One more step along the world I go;. From the old things to the new. Keep me traveling along with you. And it's from the old I travel to the new;. Keep me traveling along with you. Round the corner of the world I turn,. Where I see no way to go.

love, michelle: be thou my vision
http://michelleastiles.blogspot.com/2010/08/be-thou-my-vision.html
Saturday, August 7. Be thou my vision. Having been home from England for well over a month now and getting ready to go back to Arkansas to finish my last year of college in less than a week, I find myself frequently on the phone or at coffee with a friend that I'm catching up with and the conversation almost always turns to is this really happening? When did we get to be seniors? Weren't we just wide-eyed freshman, changing our majors every other week? Do you feel really grown up all of the sudden? I rem...

love, michelle: three weeks
http://michelleastiles.blogspot.com/2010/06/three-weeks.html
Sunday, June 13. My plane leaves Manchester at 10am three weeks from today. With twenty one days left in England, I want to ask myself where all this time has gone. What happened to trudging through thick snow into town with a hoarde of all the American girls our first week here? What happened to all those nights where I showed up to Cuppa wearing the exact same outfit because I only had one outfit that was warm enough? What happened to January and February, March and April? When did it get warm outside?
