The McBride Kitchen Project: September 2013

http://mcbridekitchen.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

The McBride Kitchen Project. Thursday, September 19, 2013. We're at it again! Hey friends, family and fans! With all this done it was time to set up the spray booth in the shop and start spraying. I knew I wasn't going to have enough primer for two coats on all the doors, but today I ran out with one left to spray. (REALLY? Here's my OSHA approved shop spray booth. Hopefully by next weekend the painting will be done and I can finish up the little touch ups to complete the kitchen can be started.

The McBride Kitchen Project: January 2013

http://mcbridekitchen.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

The McBride Kitchen Project. Monday, January 28, 2013. No kidding, 400 screws and a quart of glue used to assemble just the cases. Many more will be used on the face frames. Trimming the back corner of the two upper corner cabinets. The McBride Kitchen Project. Days 2 and 3. Since I can't simply buy something that I could make, I'm making the turntables for the lazy susan rather than buy the cheezy plastic ones. Cutting out a 32" perfect circle calls for a router and trammel. The McBride Kitchen Project.

The McBride Kitchen Project: May 2013

http://mcbridekitchen.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

The McBride Kitchen Project. Tuesday, May 28, 2013. We've made some significant progress the past several weeks despite the fact we spent Memorial Day weekend camping at the Metolius River. This camping trip has been a highlight for 8 or 9 years. Nothing beats camping with good friends, fire and cold drinks, even if it is raining a bit. There's my helpy helperson! Chris decided to get creative with the camera and take a picture through the window. And screen? But first, there's always prep work. It's beg...

I must say I was impressed – the whole process was so much slicker than trenching and laying in a new line. Two holes made it fairly non-invasive and then the fact that they can bend and pull a brand new line in like that was pretty amazing. I had intended to get the fence replaced but the rain just got here to fa...

Before any work had been done in the dining room:. Dining room Friday morning:. There is still a lot of trim work to do, paneling to build, install, plate rail to install, etc – but…WOW! That has to be one of my best before and after shots I’ve ever had. The full dining room gallery can be found here. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window).

So Lucky: A New (old) Built-In | Portland FourSquare

https://portlandfoursquare.wordpress.com/2013/06/07/builtin

Follow Blog Via Email. Join 572 other followers. So Lucky: A New (old) Built-In. June 7, 2013. 1950’s dining room built-in, in a 1910 house. Ugh. Well, for $100, I have procured a new (old) built-in. And upon close inspection, I have determined that it must be nearly identical to what I used to have. I kid you not – the size, style, trim, paneling, shelves – it is a damn near perfect match. 100 A HUNDRED DOLLARS! I can’t believe I pulled this off. Hmmm That’s not the back of lath. The details around the windows and the bump out will be a bit of a challenge which I will be tackling this weekend. Here is a glimpse at where we currently stand…. Two coats of stain have been applied, but pre finish. Quite a bit of trim is missing from this photo, but it’s still progress. Full gallery is here. You are c...

Follow Blog Via Email. Join 572 other followers. Even a snail makes progress. May 7, 2014. It’s been quite some time since the last update on the dining room. You may recall that we had painted the dining room, had some new woodwork installed, and scored the ultimate steal/find of a built-in from the house next door. Needless to say, the built-in was a perfect fit. The paint color we had chosen for the walls; however, was not. The walls with windows are angled and the trim folds around the window stool a...

Follow Blog Via Email. Join 572 other followers. This is a work in progress but check back as it gets fine tuned – the new layout will be great in the long-term but is highlighting my lackadaisical blogging. Give me a few weeks and I’ll add all the rooms and their respective progress (or lack thereof). We love this room! It’s the first real room you see when you enter our house and it has wonderful, natural light throughout. As with most projects, this room reno spiraled out of control but the ...This ro...
