Reflections on experiments with technology in the classroom…and other musings. May 20, 2010 at 5:24 pm · Filed under Foundations Class 2. Last week in Foundations, we explored various applications of the read-write web, or web 2.0, that educators and students can use to interact, collaborate, and share new knowledge. You can check some of them out on my Delicious. My favorites so far are Animoto. One I’d like to experiment with soon is Xtranormal. No comments yet ». Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

The Teacher's Path. A journey of the mind, the body, and the heart. February 23, 2007. March 3, 2015. I never understood how Tim looked at the world. It was harder to be defiant and stubborn than to go with the flow . Whatever work he shirked he eventually ended up having to do. I never let that part slip. I’d make him do it for me after school sitting alone, silently, bent over a blank sheet of paper in my classroom. Tim, wouldn’t it be easier if you did this work the first time? He turned and left.
What to Assess? | Marc Eckert on Education
https://mreckert.wordpress.com/2010/06/15/what-to-assess
Marc Eckert on Education. I believe there needs to be a change in the way we test to initiate more changes in the way we approach education. We need to test the important skills students will need more effectively which will enable more classroom pedagogy to change. Coming up with accurate methods to test 21st century skills is a task that will be complicated and time consuming but it is a step in the right direction to transform classroom instruction. Dan Lennane's Blog. Drafted onto a Feild Trip. It was really interesting to see how the students connect job to what they actually know. I want to use this to help draw connections to my math lessons. Maybe it will motivate students to work harder now that they have seen how important some skills can be in the real world. Senior-itis….with 8th graders? May 18, 2010 at 11:39 pm ( Uncategorized. Everyone knows about Senior-itis. If you haven’t experienced it personally, I’m sure you have heard of it. It usually happens around May of the school year. When people talk about senior-itis, they usually discuss it in the context of students experiencing it but teachers, staff and administration experience it too! We usually hear the phrase “they’ve checked out”. Why does this phenomenon occur? May 19, 2010 at 12:00 am. I think th...

Adam Beirlein's Math Blog. Just another WordPress.com site. May 19, 2010. As teachers, we sometimes we get caught up with teaching “how to” perform a certain operation, but lack teaching reasoning skills to children. For example, when asked:. 8220;If each school bus holds 30 students and there are 100 students, how many busses are needed to transport the students? I totally agree with you! On May 19, 2010. Good thought. Practicality and relevancy will help make math practice have more purpose. Besides, I...

Adam Beirlein's Math Blog. Just another WordPress.com site. July 13, 2010. Connecting to the content. This past year, when I was starting my unit on measurement, I had students come up with as many topics, words, phrases, etc having to do with measurement. Kids said anything like: metric, inches, weight, height, time, at the deli, use it to cook, etc. Students came to the conclusion that you use it everyday; in fact, day is a measurement of time! Adam Beirlein's Math Blog. Just another WordPress.com site. June 6, 2010. We deal with time every year, month, week, day, hour, second…there’s not escaping it. Time, in general, for elementary students can be a challenge. Even more challenging is elapsed time (time passed). This, like other math thoughts, I don’t have a true answer, but I do have a couple suggestions. Purchase the Elapsed Time Ruler. Laquo; Math Games. Connecting to the content. I still think it’s imperative they can understand the...

McElhattan's Onlilne
Elcome to the home page of the McElhattan clan in Summit County, Colorado! We're glad you've dropped by. The site is being built as I'm able to get to it. Our recent relocation and setting up our business is getting the lion's share of my time. It's awesome to be back in the mountains. I (Jeff) grew up here (Leadville, Empire/Georgetown, Idaha Springs and Twin Lakes) so mountain living isn't new to me. My wife, Cheryl and I are glad to be back in the High Country making friends and loving life!

Apple Music Designers Use Invisible Ink. When browsing Apple Music, I’ve found that, in many cases, it’s hard to see what I’m looking it. Lists of songs or albums are fine, but when I see an album highlighted at the top of a genre list, it’s often displayed using invisible ink. Here are a few examples:. To look at just one of these more closely, here’s how Titus Andronicus’ new album The Most Lamentable Tragedy looks on an iPad in landscape mode:. Using the iOS Music App in Landscape Mode.
