Milking Stool | McGlynn on Making

Musings on Metal, Wanderings with Wood. Click here to see all posts on this project). This was a relatively quick project from the Paul Sellers woodworking book. The point was to make this with all hand tools. I learned a little about carving, including that I don’t really have a good handle on sharpening carving tools. That seems weird, because I can put a good edge on planes and regular chisels. Glue Up The Seat Blank. I figure out how to sharpen my gouges. Once the seat was assembled and glued up I pa...

Musings on Metal, Wanderings with Wood. Blacker Table Top Inlay. May 31, 2015. I just finished the inlay on the top of the Blacker Serving table I’m making. This went really smoothly. It’s not perfect, but it’s plenty good enough. I’m pleased that I was able to do all the processes end-to-end without any screw ups or stress. A good day in the shop. Inlay in original Blacker dining table. As on the legs, I’m using the Chevalet to cut out the petals, I’m more comfortable with that than using a ...The shell...

Musings on Metal, Wanderings with Wood. Click here to see all of the related posts). One thing led to another, and I convinced my wife to let me go buy a couple of reclaimed Douglas Fir timbers. Surfacing and squaring them up was a lot of work, and I learned all about hand planes, sharpening and heart palpitations. Reclaimed Douglas Fir beams, destined to become a workbench top. Flattening the rough surface of my benchtop with a scrub plane. Finished workbench with a coat of 3-2-1 finish. Blacker Table T...

Musings on Metal, Wanderings with Wood. Workmanship of Screwing Up. May 17, 2015. Yesterday I wrote about the. Up as I like to call it.) It’s a topic that has been on my mind as I started in on the inlay for the Blacker Serving Table I’m making. This project is a bit of a stretch for me, I’ve done inlay twice before, both as sample projects that didn’t matter. Now I’m doing a real project, with a very real risk of ruining a part. Inlay router from Micro Fence. The silver wire is 1/16″ and 1/32̸...
Quick shop update | McGlynn on Making
https://mcglynnonmaking.com/2015/05/25/quick-shop-update
Musings on Metal, Wanderings with Wood. May 25, 2015. Jig for routing the slot for the spline. Once I had the design sorted out it was simple enough to cut up some MDF to build the jig. Parts for the spline jig. Whoops, almost 1/8″ gap over the 22″ top width. Ripping the top in half to re-joint the seam. And finally, the table base is out of the clamps. The skirts are all tight, and the base is nice and square. Really, just the top to finish and this table will be a wrap. Newer post →. May 25, 2015.

Just what IF modern-day businesses with BIG hopes and BIG ideas, on a small budget, could contract an entire team with development and marketing experience beyond their highest expectations, but. Stay within their budgetary markers. It would be their very own, all-in-one, " think tank" of endless talent and ideas for far less of an investment than it would take to add just ONE full-time employee to their on staff.
