McGowan Fine Art: September 2008
http://mcgowanfineart.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 13, 2008. Children's Illustrators Opening- September 12, 2008. So the evening started off slowly. I plan these events so far in advance but who was to know that it was a race weekend bringing in fans from around New England and that Barack Obama was speaking at the Tech. Both conspired to clog the highways heading North keeping most of the artists from arriving on time. Tracey Dahle Carrier was first and is shown here speaking with a collector. Made available that evening. Photo credi...
McGowan Fine Art: Why Do you Collect Art?
http://mcgowanfineart.blogspot.com/2008/05/why-do-you-collect-art.html
Saturday, May 3, 2008. Why Do you Collect Art? Art can be like this too. You will find that there is some affordable and good art to be had if you start looking and asking questions. These are indicators that an artist might go the distance, but this should be considered a fortuitous bit of luck- often times realized only by your children or grand children. Another very personal take on collecting art can be read about at Art Register. February 21, 2009 at 10:42 PM. You captured it so well! 10 Hills Aven...
McGowan Fine Art: Where Do You Collect Art?
http://mcgowanfineart.blogspot.com/2008/05/where-do-you-collect-art.html
Saturday, May 3, 2008. Where Do You Collect Art? Many people are intimidated by the thought of entering a gallery or are concerned that there will be an admission fee. Commercial galleries have no admission fee as a museum does. They make their money by selling the artwork to people, but you are under no obligation to purchase something because you have walked through the front door. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). McGowan Fine Art: Craig Stockwell Studio Visit
http://mcgowanfineart.blogspot.com/2013/08/craig-stockwell-studio-visit_13.html
Tuesday, August 13, 2013. Craig Stockwell Studio Visit. Sarah and I visited Craig Stockwell. In his his studio last week, in Keene, NH. Its always a treat to visit an artist in their studio, to see their new art and pieces still in the works. You never know what gems you will find. He selects one painting from the series to enlarge, and then takes it a step further by recreating the composition on the wall, but by deconstructing and reducing to the composition's simplest forms. Why Do You Collect Art?
McGowan Fine Art: January 2009
http://mcgowanfineart.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 30, 2009. North Country Studio Workshops. In February of 2008 McGowan Fine Art hosted a show of participants from the North Country Studio Workshops. Held at Bennington College. It featured over 40 artists in diverse media . It was such a successful show for us and brought publicity to the NCSW program that we decided to repeat it again in 2010. And now a quick word from our sponsor- North Country Studio Workshops which has done such a great job of giving high quality educational opportun...

http://debraclaffey.blogspot.com/2014/02/a-few-days-in-chicago.html
Making Something Out of Nothing. Notes on making art, by Debra Claffey, a visual artist working with encaustic and oil and whatever else suits. Sunday, February 23, 2014. My friend wanted to visit the Thorne Miniature Rooms. This was a really beautiful show of sculpture and works on paper from the 16th to the late 20th century. D...

Making Something Out of Nothing: November 2012

Making Something Out of Nothing. Notes on making art, by Debra Claffey, a visual artist working with encaustic and oil and whatever else suits. Friday, November 16, 2012. Biology is fractal. Leaf patterning and veining, tree formation, hives and shells all have a mathematical description to their form. It can be enormously intriguing to mimic, recreate, and in a sense, relive the form through line and color in a fractal way, using the organic growth of a wavering line and meandering color. Willa Vennema,...

How many other avenues are available? Public art grants, residencies, teaching, nonprofit venues- -the list is huge, and each needs a slightly different approach. The bottom line is that that are as many ways to succeed as an artist as there are artists. And the secret, (not a secret, really, is it? Links to this post.

Friday, May 8, 2015. Haiden's 1st grade field trip and talent show! It's hard to believe Haiden's 1st grade year is coming to a close. This year I was able to go with him and his fellow 1st graders on a field trip! They went to a park to play and eat lunch, then went to see a play called "If you give a cat a cupcake.". It was a super cute play, but the most enjoyable part was watching the room of 1st graders laugh at the actors on stage. He did a great job! He did a great job! It was a fun show to watch!
