Our dog has a pretty even temperament most of the time. He herds our three cats but is otherwise a pretty mellow little guy. Fireworks change everything. Unable to discern the reason for celebration, fireworks make him a nervous wreck. Around the 4th he becomes anxious, barking at every little noise, cowering under the bed and generally fearful of his surroundings. This year my wife decided to purchase a Thundershirt. I have loved the water for as long as I can remember. My maternal grandparents had a cottage on the Muskegon River. Several hundred yards from Houghton Lake. When we visited during the summer I would jump out of our wood-paneled station wagon with my fishing rod in hand. If I wasn’t fishing I was catching frogs, swimming or wandering the beach.
